Looking for some security cameras for shop. Exterior use, day and night picture/video ability. Looking for someone that actually has a system and an opinion of it first hand. Not what internet says. Hell, maybe one of us actually sells them on here.
Thanks in advance. .

I have a FLIR system at my shop and can pull it up on the phone. Been pretty good for me. Wasn’t the most expensive but not cheap either. I think Lorex now makes this model instead of flir. This is right now.

I have a Lorex system for business and Ring system at home. The Ring system is much more user friendly and their monitored alarm service is only $100 per year. Best Buy will install the Ring system if you buy from them. I've been very happy with it so far.

I use vivnit. I'm running 4 outside camera's and a doorbell camera. All accessible by phone and all alert when they something sets them off. I've viewed and talked to delivery personnel at the house from 500 miles away.

We use several brands depending on the installation and use. There are a few options to decide on:
1. IP/network cameras require a Cat5/6 cable to each camera for power, video and audio. Distance limit to NVR (network video recorder) or switch is 328ft. You can use wireless IP cameras with this system too. The NVR is networked and can be accessed remotely when setup. Video quality can be very high, this is very useful when the camera is monitoring large areas like a parking lot and you need to zoom in on the recorded video.
2. CCTV cameras are traditional analog cameras that use a coax for video, a separate power cable and can run several hundred feet from the DVR. The DVR is usually plugged in to your network and can be accessed remotely when setup. Typical video quality is 720p although some advertise 1080p. These are the cheapest systems available.
3. Standalone cameras, like Arlo, are wireless and can connect to a cloud/Internet service for recording and remote viewing. These are real easy to install but require wireless signal to all cameras. Some features may require a monthly service subscription.
We typically use Samsung NVR and IP cameras for indoor and outdoor installations. You select the camera based on the installation and area you want to view. Most spots get a dome camera with a 2.8mm lens for wide viewing, if we mount on a shop and want to watch a gate 100yds away we would use a varifocal lens to zoom in on the gate. We use a day/night camera for all areas and outdoor/vandal resistant cameras where needed. The longer view distances may require an IR illuminator for improved night vision.
Lots of options out there.

We use RING and have been pleased with it
I could watch my home and answer my front door bell from New Zealand when we were there a couple years ago
For the money it is a very good system.
No doubt there are better systems with better picture quality, for more money

I use WYZE. Less than $25 per camera, simple setup. No contracts or hidden fees.
