On average, how much corn is dispensed per second? I know the answer is probably “it depends”, but how long are y’all running your corn feeders for each feeding?

It depends!!!!! We set ours to throw about 3 to 4# per throw. Twice a day then a 50# bag lasts about a week. 55 gallon feeder lasts about 6 weeks. Some of our feeders will throw that 3.5# in 4 to 5 seconds but some can take 3 or 4 times that long. We usually assume 8 seconds to throw 3.5# until we measure or learn a particular feeder by trial and measure. Coons and wind etc can empty a feeder quicker than the scheduled throw if dont have it controlled right.

Run a test throw and hold a feed bag over the unit, weigh what’s in the bag and figure out how to adjust your time for desired amount of corn.

A standard ASF throws 4.5lb per 4 seconds. I think about a pound a second is a good compromise.

It really does depend a lot on several factors. What motor size-6v or 12v? What is the downspout/funnel diameter? What type spinner plate? What is the gap from spinner plate to downspout/funnel opening? Is it clean corn or bin run? Fastest way to find out is to get a corn bag and slide it up and over the timer box to catch all the corn that is thrown in the cycle length you have it on....then weigh the corn. I have 12 volt All Seasons feeders with Eliminator spinner plates and mine will throw about 5 lbs in 8 seconds. I run mine from 2 seconds to 9 seconds per feeding 2 or 4 times per day depending on the amount they are eating here. I run mine according to how much corn is left in the mornings an hour or two after the feeder goes off. No corn..bump it a second every few days and continue till there is corn left. Most feeders you can adjust the spinner plate gap up and down to your desired liking and it will increase or decrease the amount fed per cycle.
Are idiots multiplying faster than normal people?
