I believe it depends on when they lost them. By the first of Sept. most have stopped.

IME it varies some even on the same ranch or location in the state. Most of the deer on my place will be done in early August till late August. I have seen a buck or two here every year loose his velvet in mid to late Aug. In 2017 it was Aug 24, in 2018 it was Aug 19 and in 2019 it was Aug 21...those are when I caught the first one on TC...so all those bucks were probably done growing by early part of Aug. You can tell by how tight looking the velvet is and the color of it changes when they are about done. They also will start to loose the summer hair coat and slick off with the fall hair coat about the time they are going to shed the velvet. I have also seen bucks still with velvet on in early part of October. Seen some bucks grow till the last days before they shed the velvet off. Most of them though will stop growing in later part of August in my area. You will also see bucks on the same place or even in the same bachelor group with varied growth...IME there are bucks that are 3 weeks behind/ahead of the rest of the bucks. I have seen bucks in the last week showing G4's and nontypical forks or kicker on the 2s and 3s already that are running with bucks barely getting to the G2's or 3's....most are past the G3s now and starting to show their tine length. Most bucks will grown 45% of their antler growth in June. So that is why spring rains and bucks in good shape is critical for them as they start to grow antlers again.
Are idiots multiplying faster than normal people?

Varies by area and by specific deer but generally Labor Day is pretty close.

At some point in life its time to quit chasing the pot of gold and just enjoy the rainbow. FR Keep your gratitude higher than your expectations. RWH
