Thanks for posting! up I'll remember it if we head through there in September. 'Thinkin' we may try to finally make it to Guadalupe Peak for my 60th birthday. We were there many years ago, wife wanted to go the hdqtrs. (gift shop) in the morning and we got started too late. We had to turn around within sight of the peak so we wouldn't be stumbling in the dark on the trail. I checked the park website yesterday. They of course remind you to wash your hands, but the restrooms are closed and they have porta potties? confused2 Typical feds. No camping, lots of trails except the peak are closed, we'll see. We were gonna stay in the renovated Van Horn hotel, but who knows if they made it through the shut-down.

You drag that pretty lady to all the garden spots of the state.

Yep, pretty good menu overall..only had one subpar meal their in all the times I have eaten there. Breakfast is really good, just somedays they can be slow in cookin it and getting it to the table. Pepitos across the street has pretty good food also. Breakfast is really good their and other meals or pretty good......just not South Texas style mexican food I am used to. They do make a great hamburger that is huge. Mi Casita down the east on the same street on far east side of town has pretty good mexican food. Alfredos just west of Sagebrush has some decent food....just have to ask the waitress. They have a thin steak grilled with peppers on top of it that is pretty good. Avoid both steakhouses though...unless you want just the salad bar at Kbobs. We have eaten at every place in town since 2007...only a few are worth returning to.

Don’t get me started on the baked potatoes at K-bobs....they gave me one one time they was about as big as a golf ball

The sagebrush is probably the best food in Stockton. The Mexican food place Across the street isn’t bad either

For it is not the quarry that we truly seek, but the adventure.

Gal at the Hampton Inn did us right by suggesting it for us. One of the best meals of the whole trip

Chicken Fried steak looks good. I'm going past Ft. Stockton a lot but always eat at McD's. Will try it the next trip.

Pepitos Cafe. I never eat the Mexican food but they make a mighty fine burger. Sagebrush is good. Mi Casita is owned by a friend that I graduated with. Only had the food one time for a HS reunion. Can't say I remember much about it though.

Sounds like you are from the area. Last time I got into town early so I drove around in the outskirts and in about an hour, if I recall right, I saw maybe 30 blue quail, lots of doves, roadrunners, and cottontails. I figured the deer hunting costs a lot but I unfortunately thought maybe some ranches etc. would just let you come on free for small game. I am living in dream world I guess.
