Yesterday evening I checked on the Laurie Darlin and she wasn't on the nest. Early this morning I saw that she had returned to the nest. I checked the nest just now 12:30pm and she was gone. I took some pictures and I am amazed in just how fast these chicks are growing. The change from yesterday to today is unbelievable. Here is todays picture. I have to think they are days away from leaving.

Quail hunting is like walking into, and out of a beautiful painting all day long. Gene Hill

Looks like they aren't far away from flying.

Mom and dad feed them craw milk for several days and one always is there to help them because they can't regulate their body temperature. After that mom and dad usually leave them alone and then switch out feeding them seeds. They only take about 16 days before they flutter into the world.
