I shredded the back pasture this morning, putting in about 2 1/2 hours of pure fun (kidding). Dang hogs had dug the whole place up. Obviously not little hogs either. Some serious digging was done. Got to hook up the tiller tomorrow and fix it. I thought those smelly rascals had moved out, but noooo. If it wasn’t so hot, I’d be hunting them. Trapping isn’t working. Grump grump grump...

Put out a feeder, and charge hunters to come kill them.

Not trying to volunteer other people, but I'm sure with the 66,000 people that are members of this forum we could get some kind of volunteer corps of regional teams together that could be requested to come to a ranch or land owner's property and put a dent in a population of hogs. If the true objective is to stop/limit damage like in this case. General Oxner could oversee this Band of HOG SWAT?

Don't know where you live but when I was over in Fayette County they had a bounty on them. Ranching neighbors let people come in one or two at a time and wack um. The hunters made the money. I had about 30 Momma Longhorns. a few monster steers, and a mean Bull on my place and never had a problem while neighbors did. A group of Momma Longhorns with calves by their sides and switchblades on their noggins all grouped, would chase or kill them quick. Same with Coyotes.

When I did let a couple Guys off here come over to my 100 acre place, had a contract they signed made up by my attorney. He said he used it on his place outside Flatonia for paying hunters. Mine was free for table meat. They, the hunters didn't move around and kept them down by Buckner Creek about 3/4 mile from the ranch house. The only place that my Longhorn cows couldn't get to.

I let some marines go hog hunting on me one time. Seems they did not know the purpose of fences. Neighbors did not appreciate it and called GW out. Because they were in the service only warnings were given. So, I am sorta careful about such matters now.

This works around here, Once the dogs start jumping them they move out of an area.

What impact does running the dogs have on the deer, do they run them out also?

I never understood people not understanding fences. If I go hunting on property I am not familiar with, i ask for tour of property and for people to be specific on where and what I am hunting. Then, if you encounter a fence your weren't aware of or familiar with, you dont cross it until you clarify that the other side is still their property.

These things are really simple.

One of my now graduated tennis kids, that I taught to reload, is going to use his night vision gear and shoot a few for me.

It's always a gamble to allow strangers on your property. I hired a company to put up radio towers and they were stealing my deer stands. Shooting my cows or my dogs would be hard to forgive.

One shot is all it should take.

Yotehater is right. A few years back I was trapping a bunch of hogs, and it seemed easier to just give them to a couple of guys I knew than to shoot the pigs and drag them to the back of the property. I let them have pigs one time, only to find out that they were baiting MY trap and visiting it in the early morning for a time after that. I had to put up another gate and lock it.

Give em an inch.....

Hit one the biggest SOBs I’ve seen at about 90 mph when I was passing 2 trucks on my way to work yesterday. Luckily I have a replacement bumper or my truck would have been jacked up.
