I bought a new old stock Ruger Hawkeye in 6.8 SPC. Nice little wood stocked carbine with 16.5" pencil barrel a few years ago. I could never get to it shoot so it sat in my safe. Fall of last year my suppressor finally arrived after a year wait and I started thinking how nice a 16" Suppressed 6.8 SPC bolt would be. I ordered a pre-fit McGowan 16.5" #4 sporter for in 6.8 SPC Spec 2 with a 1:10 twist. Went with that twist in case I wanted to push 130s. The Ruger mag box will let me load to 2.45" so I can stuff more powder in the case. Barrel came in a few months ago and I had it installed and recycled a McMillan from another rifle. Mounted the cherry bomb muzzle break and the suppressor. Mounted a Trijicon Accupower 3-9x40 in the factor rings. I haven't really had a chance to load for it so I just took some factory ammunition with me. Shot really well once it fouled in. This last group is below with S&B 110 PTS ammo. I'm getting 2660 fps from a 16.5" barrel with the suppressor which is about 100 fps over the advertised velocity. I loaded some 110 TSX out to 2.4" with a stout load of A2200 and was getting 2750 fps but not the accuracy I wanted. Will certainly play around more with it but shows the potential of the longer mag box. Plan on using it this season for deer. 100 yards Sellier & Bellot 110 PTS factory ammo. After this group, I clicked .1 Mil right and called it good.

I love that whole setup. I can't wait to get a 6.8 barrel spun up for my switch barrel action.
Haha yea I polished that thing for hours.

It turned out much better than I hoped. Makes a good light recoiling rifle for deer and hogs to about 200 yards which is what I had in mind.

What an awesome setup! Jaw is still on the floor. It's got the looks, and it performs.

And it's probably twice as quiet as a 308-based round. Sounds like a plan to me.
