Caught a last-minute axis doe hunt with Chasin' Dreams Outdoors just West of Forestburg, yesterday. Very picturesque place...lots of elevation changes, numerous lakes including two very large ones (trophy bass & catfish fishing with your hunt), and tons of game. My guide, T.C., was passionate & seemed to know every rock & tree on the place, and it's a pretty big place. It was only 70 minutes from Frisco, so that's a win, as well.

The axis were plentiful, large does and several trophy bucks. We went safari-style, locating them by vehicle then spot-stalk for a couple hours to put two does down. They have several other exotics, but the red hinds and red stags blew my mind! No herds of scrawny yearlings, here. Most of the hinds are MASSIVE, and they probably have 200+ of them. They also have lots of seriously impressive red stag trophies. T.C. said they would start hunting the stag & hinds in a couple months.

Built inside a massive barn, there's a one-room efficiency-apartment-style building with a small kitchen, fridge, bathroom and A/C. Also an RV next to the barn. I didn't get a look inside the RV, but the apartment was clean & the A/C had it about 65 degrees inside. I'm told a big fire pit, outdoor kitchen and 2-story lodge are in the works. There's a nice pool table in the barn + fridges for your beverages & groceries.

They're currently filling spots for most exotics and for what looks to be a promising dove season, and the price is right. I'm 100% booking there for dove (and red hinds as soon as they'll let me). They can put you on game from an ATV, stand, or spot/stalk with either a rifle, handgun or bow.

For an exotics hunt less than 90 minutes from DFW, I was impressed. Can't wait to take my wife/daughter to fill a freezer with one of those giant red hinds. Should anyone want contact info, PM me and I'm happy to share.
