My Dad saw this buck near my sister’s lake house on Possum Kingdom. I only hunt whitetail so I have no idea what it is. Is it mature?

Big bodied Axis with not so big antlers.

Looks like about 8 lbs of backstraps and tenderloins and 70-80 lbs of the best hamburger meat know to man!

High fence, low fence, no fence, it really doesn't matter as long as you're hunting!

Don't think it's an Axis. Wrong coat color and wrong shape and color horns.
I'm pretty sure I've seen other pictures but I can't come up with the name.

Antlers make it look like a Visayan, but I don't know if there are any in Texas?

The small antlers and big body look like a spotted Sika, but the throat patch makes it an axis.

Thump it!

I agree BOBO.

Just a dark colored, huge bodied, small horned axis that really needs to be on my plate! grin

It's an axis and I believe it was on Noah's Ark.
