Went out last night to wage jihad on a couple of Volkswagon-Bug-sized raccoons that had begun patrolling the fence line too close to the chicken coop. I had spotted them on a game cam located a few hundred yards away from the coop, so I began seeding the area with puddles of corn. Sure enough, they started hitting the corn pile every night. I got all set up, and instead of coons, 4 piglets showed up. They were moving all over the place, pushing and shoving to get the best angle on the corn, finally settled for a moment and I made the shot. Entered his neck on the right side and exited his left side as you can see. He dropped immediately, kicked twice, and gave it up. There's an old saying that goes something like this: "The early piglet gets the 58 grain Hornady V-MAX." Or something like that. Used my EABCO 97D in 6PPC; Wicked Light illumination; 80 yards. The coons will have to wait their turn.

That'll work just fine. Look at this as load development.

That'll work just fine. Look at this as load development. Unfortunately, I can't blame this on a load development issue, since I've been reloading for this rifle for 15 years, and have it down cold! Ragged, one hole, 5 shot groups at 100 yards are the norm. This was a case of bad trigger discipline, poor lighting, failing eyesight, fast moving target, and the surprise factor since I was looking for a couple of old, waddling 'coons. Hadn't seen hogs at this location in over a year. My bad all the way.

The hog is dead. I see nothing bad about this. Keep After 'Em!

Very cool rifle...I bet it's a shooting sob! It really is a shooting sob, Judd. And it was, right out of the box. I went on my first fire-forming trek and was able to shoot MOA with both the 58 and the 65 grain Hornady's I was using during the fire-forming session. The thing it does not like is bullets of more than 70 grains. (It's not the weight, but the length of the heavier bullets that it doesn't seem to like) I'm building one of the new 6mm ARC's and looked at the SAAMI specs for both cartridges and the cases are almost identical! And with the ARC, I'll be able to shoot 108 grain bullets. Once my build is complete, I should have the low end and high end of the 6mm bullet spectrum pretty well covered!! Assuming, of course, that the idiot behind the trigger does his part. . .
