I wanted to post about this case, I do not have permission to post the article about it that was in May issue of "Wyoming Wildlife" magazine and called " No Transfer Allowed."
A local outfitter, a guy I know somewhat, was convicted of allowing NRs to harvest animals on his landowners tags, since 2014.

I may have given this guys name to some on here about trespass fee hunting .

My post is too remind all of you that in Wyoming landowners tags can not be transferred or party hunted. I guess he had hunters that did not know the laws and he told them it was ok.
Please, make yourselves familiar with out of state hunting laws before you go. We can't know them all but most of the common violations have faqs posted on various state's websites.
Some concerned hunters stepped up and turned him in when they realized what he was doing was illegal.
Fines and loss of hunting rights were handed down to him, his guide and the out of state hunters.

I will not post his name here but the outfitting business is Sunny Slope Outfitters, in Wyoming. Sad part is the region general deer tag can be drawn with 0 PP, cow elk tags are left over every year and it's general elk for bulls. None of the tags are very hard to draw.

I am shocked to say the least, he came off as a good ole boy type guy that would do anything for you. He asked us about cow elk access one year for a hunter he had, we could not help him and I wonder now if it was on the up and up.

Disappointing for sure!! Any specifics on punishment? A big case just got settled in AZ as well-- poaching elk off WMAT land and a bunch of other animals. Many feel it was a bit too light of a sentence.

Glad to see they are busted- WYO is too good of a resource to become monetarily jeopardized like AZ and other states...

So, if a landowner receives 5 bull tags, he has to use them all, himself?

Total fines for all $26,705 with $4000 added for restitution.
Outfitter got $ 8645
Guide $4660
5 out of state hunters about $17,000 between them.
Lost privileges for 3 years

Sounds like elk and deer violations, maybe pronghorn as well.
I wonder if they were hunting specific species , after harvest he would let them take others on his tags ?

Landowners receive a maximum of 2 tags for each species they have on their property for 2000 animal use days.
Here is who qualifies :
(v) “Landowner” means an individual, partnership, corporation, trust, limited liability
company or combination of these, which either owns real property in fee simple title or is
acquiring equitable interest by written contract.

(w) “Landowner Applicant” means an individual who either owns real property solely
or jointly with other individuals or who holds an interest in a corporation, partnership, trust or
limited liability company, which owns real property or is a member of the “immediate family” of
the individual.

(x) “Landowner Applicant’s Immediate Family” means the landowner applicant’s
spouse, landowner applicant’s parents, landowner applicant’s grandparents, landowner
applicant’s lineal descendants and their spouses, or landowner applicant’s siblings.

Landowners must apply for their licenses in LQ areas, if more apps than tags then they draw.

Serious question because I am ignorant of Wyoming wildlife laws:

If you have two landowners, one owns 20,000 acres and one owns 3,000 acres and both have large elk herds that use and pass thorough their property each would never receive more than 2 landowner tags.... and neither has the right to sell those tags to NR hunters?

Must be at least partly because a non resident tag cost about 30 times as much as a resident tag. Also I think they have like 3 times as many non resident tags as resident tags, I could be wrong, I am just getting dtarted learning about all these great hunts we have access to.

Somebody needs to take the outfitter and give him a nice blanket party.

Yes, landowners can only get 2 tags regardless of how large the property is and they can not sell them or transfer them.
