They are double you know. I've cut way back mostly from my lifestyles. I cook for only one. I never deep fry at home. I once bought my cooking oil by the gallon, then half gallon, now I buy my cooking oil in little bitty bottles they last forever. How do you buy your cooking.

Went from a beautiful loving wife to a widower. From eating out with a neighbor to eating alone. Read the OP for more.

Pretty sure you have one lifestyle. However life has dealt you some real blows and your life has been changed. It does it to us all...eventually. God's Peace to you in this holiday season and I hope you have a Merry Christmas anyway. You've got me watching those Omaha Steak commercials.

Now that Im single again and do all the cooking for me and also my daughter when she is home from college, I hardly ever use cooking oil at all. When I do, I use olive oil and sparingly. I do a lot of baking of vegetables and meats on a cookie sheet. Ive lost 70 lbs in the last 7 months and in doing so learned about healthy food and how good it can be. Im down to a healthy 190 lbs now where I plan to stay so my calories have gone up but still trying to eat healthy although I do eat halo top ice cream way too often. But, cutting out cooking oil and not drinking calories in sweet tea or juices have made a huge difference.

I buy the avocado oil. Then I put it in a plastic squeeze bottle to help control the amount and the mess.

Calories are calories are calories. If you keep calories in = calories out, then you will stay same weight. There is no magic bullet to reducing weight or gaining weight other than adjusting the formula to more calories or less calories in or out.

I am confident the worst thing to happen tot he American diet is the invention of the low fat diet fad. Replaced a bunch of fat with sugar and created a bunch of diabetes. We need a certain amount of fat in our diets. Food science isn't rocket science.

I use extra virgin olive oil to saute with and to cook chinese or in the Wok. I I rarely eat food deep fried and when I do it's usually french frys from a burger joint or fried chicken, or a chicken fry from Cotton Patch.

When it comes to overall fat consumption, I eat plenty. I eat avocados every day and they're loaded with fat. Fresh sliced with salt & pepper, guacamole, or split lengthwise and baked after being scooped out so each half will hold an egg sprinkled with cheese. I eat grass fed lamb regularly and an occaisional prime rib or ribeye and I love the taste of the fat.

I've been doing a keto based diet with intermittent fasting for a few years years since I was diagnosed with diabetes. Im amazed at how much better I feel.

From what I have read and researched most cooking oil are pretty bad for you in general, need to look into avocado or olive oil for cooking, they say avocado has a higher cooking temp.

Yes sit avocado oil does have a higher temp. Easy to use and makes the food taste better in my opinion.

I used to think olive oil had a strong flavor but after cooking with it for a few months it tastes just fine. I fry eggs in it and they taste like any other fried egg.
