This past Saturday I was doing some work around the house when something caught my eye. A dove has decided to make a nest on my utility meter. I check on her twice a day to see what she is doing. I plan on posting a daily update with a picture. Here is today's picture.

One on my porch much the same, but she was there over a month sitting on four eggs. A couple of weeks ago, I got the feeling she was sitting on a failed nest but she was a determined sort. She would hold tight when I came through with loud lawn equipment and sometimes we would come out the front door and she would be sitting on the sidewalk. She would tolerate both my son and I walking by no more than a foot away. One of the craziest things I've seen.

We'll we came home a couple days ago to find one of the eggs smashed on the porch. The next day, another smashed. Then nada. She gone.

I guess she finally figured it out.

Quail hunting is like walking into, and out of a beautiful painting all day long. Gene Hill
