Read today that Cornyn and Cruz voted against the Great American Outdoors Act. Am kind of surprised, it has pretty widespread support. That act and the Land and Water Conservation Fund are great for hunting, fishing, and hiking; it benefits our public lands, waters, and wildlife conservation. Quoting the release detailed below, If passed this will provide Texas with funding to support a $154 million maintenance backlog at Texas' 13 national parks, monuments and historical parks as well as grants for local and state park acquisition, development and repair. https://www.themeateater.com/conser...an-outdoors-act-find-out-how-yours-votedhttps://environmenttexas.org/news/t...rnyn-support-great-american-outdoors-act

You could always email them and ask them why they voted against it.

You could always email them and ask them why they voted against it. "The federal government already owns more land than it has the capacity to maintain, and authorizing it to acquire more without making common-sense reforms hurts Texans and Americans across the country," spokeswoman Maria Jeffrey wrote in an email. This was a quote from the Dallas Morning News on it. I hate to see this kind of thought or position coming from my Senator's office.

Not pertaining to this bill so much BUT, the feds DO own way too much land. In the Constitution it talks about the government only owning enough land/property to do their business. For them to have 100's of 1,000,000's of acres is asinine. It should be given to the states & sold to the public for pennies on the dollar.

Let the states manage it but keep it public land. That is the plan in Wyoming anyway.

I could care less about National Park backlogs, they don’t give two poops about our input, never have never will, most the Park service has been outsourced to private entities anyway. National park service is the most restricted access of any of the federally managed lands. Thus why shrinking Bear Ears NM footprint was so critical to a lot of sportsmen. So until they lighten up on their restrictive over bearing nature, They shouldn’t get any LWCF funds in my opinion. Grand Teton Mountain goat is a perfect example about not caring about our input. With that said I do support permanent funding of the LWCF it does a lot more then just FEDERAL land, it’s City/Neighborhood parks, green areas etc. I would actually be shocked if this makes it through house with out any speciality attachments, just to make Trump Veto it. With that said why don’t you ask Cruz and Cornyn why they voted against.....

Historically that rings true, but you do currently have states like Texas that are increasing in public land acreage, now that’s not always synonyms with access. State held lands tend to be most restrictive use.

You want to get rid of big bend, yellow stone, the grand tetons, Yosemite etc give them to the states. Then tell your kids sorry but it's all gone.

Largest governmental land purchase since the United States bought Alaska from the Russians.

The joint opposition of the Act by Cornyn and Cruz stems from the National Cattlemen's Beef Association and almost all other livestock associations that have united in opposition to the Act. The Act grants more funds towards purchasing private lands, which is the primary reason the national parks and forest maintenance and repairs backlogged and not being completed! http://publiclandscouncil.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/06/Livestock-affiliate-letter-Oppose-LWCF.pdf
