The French Britt is the smallest of the pointing breed. These 30lb apartment sized bird dogs have been described as angels in the house and demons in the field. These versatile dogs require little training and have an off switch.

Both parents are hunted hard. Kate is OFA good and Bleu is 11 and still runs like he’s 5. There should be no health problems with these pups. Kate has been to the vet every year for a rabies shot 5 times and that is it. Bleu has no health issues either.

Bleu is a nice companion and one hell of a nice birddog. Talking to Kevin he was a complete natural, pointed, backed and retrieved with little training.

I bought Kate as a pup from Plum Creek Kennels in South Dakota. I was lucky enough to have plenty of bird her first year and she made a massive dog. I taught her what HERE, WHOA, and FETCH meant and she did the rest. I killed over 350 wild bird over her the first season, all retrieved to hand. Her first year, 2015, when the bird started coming back she was the only dog I had and I hunted her 7 days in a row several times. There’s no quit in her, by the end of season I could put my hands around her waist she was so skinny, but she never slowed down. This is the first time I’ve really gotten to brag on her because all I have to do is put her down and she speaks for herself. She keeps getting better and has pointed and retrieved wild Bobs, Blues, and Pheasant. She has also fetched up her share of dove.

Kate and Bleu also love the water. Both have pedigrees reaching back to the best walking trial dogs in France. I looked at Kate’s pedigree today and counted 47 champions and international champions in 6 generations, and Bleu’s French granddaddy’s are no slouch either.

I have a 5year old pup out of Bleu as well named Lucy, she also has all of the tools. Jim Selby and I killed 17 wild bird over her the last 2 hours of season in 2017. She’s a vacuum cleaner.

I’ve had, and have, all kinds of birddogs but I got my first French Britt in 1996 and I’ll always have at least one. I love them that much. They can hunt all day or lay around on the couch watching football with you and be just as happy either way. They’re also great with the kids.

They are on Pro Plan Puppy now and love it. Pups are all growing rapidly and getting more coordinated every day. They are all getting pretty friendly and sweet too. I’m proud of the way momma is taking care of them. All are fat and happy. I got the AKC papers in. UKC haven’t showed up yet. Not a pup in the batch I wouldn’t want to have. These pups should be ready to find a bird by the time it cools off this year. I know mine will get a nose full come November. I can’t wait!

All my buddies that have raised a litter hate pups and tell me I’ll hate them too. I love everyone of them. Maybe I just have plenty of boys to help. It was so hot in the shop today I put a big bowl of water in there and let them play. All got fired up and fought and played in the water for an hour. They then took an hour nap. I’m enjoying playing with them so far. I let momma dog out to swim in the tank tonight. My wife said she needed a spa day.
