Guys, I picked up a nice used, older 22' travel trailer recently and am pondering how to power electricity and and providing some heat relief too. Was wondering if there are any quieter generators worth using that won't cost me an arm and leg to buy and operate and also would a portable A/C unit cool sufficiently cool that size a trailer and run satisfactorily off a generator? I don't intend to stay more than two nights at a time and not during extremely warm times either. What possible things should I factor and consider, thanks.

Hondas are great but spendy. Good thing is they must have been doing something good and there are several competitors for less $$.

On the quiet, I don't know how quiet you need/want it to be, but you can make any old "Loud" generator reasonably quiet with a longer cord and putting stuff around it to block noise. No doubt the Hondas and the like are quieter though.

Check out Generac, they have a version out just like the Honda, but looks like it's $200-400 cheaper.

I use 2 Honda EU2000s to run the rooftop 15k A/C or a 6500W Westinghouse non inverter when running both my sons and my trailers A/C at the same time.built a storage box with a deck to roll the big one out on when running and ran 100’ of Romex from the trailers to the generator box.
I run a small fan year round in my bedroom as white noise so I don’t listen/hear the generator at night.

Honda is probably the best option but most expensive. It is also the quietest option as well. Probly do fine with a champion or harbor freight predator generator for light use.

You’ll need at least a 3,000 to 3,500w unit. Honda and Yamaha make very quiet suitcase 2000w units. You can piggy back two of those units at a cost of about $900 a piece or you can buy a Champion or other make 3,500-4,000 watt unit for less than $500. The cheaper units tend to be very noisy and may lead to noise complaints by other campers using the campgrounds. I’ve used both types and they work equally well for 15k A/C unit on my RV.

Just go ahead and get the Honda 2200 watt generators - the regular one and the Companion version - with the tandem wiring. That’s 4400 watts of portable generators, and the easiest way to get that many watts/amps that you can pick up. Pretty quiet units.

A few years ago I was in Ireland and listening to a street musician. He had a generator to power up his gear and I could hardly hear the thing running, even when standing next to it. To this day I have no idea what make it was.

I e got a General 8000 watt unit, absolutely love it and it’s quiet for its size, quieter then the 3500 watt machine it replaced. It keeps a steady hum so it doesn’t bother me, I like noise when I sleep.

The predator 3500 inverter has impressed me. My brother has a few snocone stands set up and running at least 8 hours a day with no issues. I think this is the third year running the predators for him. They will definitely run a camper ac. They’re very quiet, even at full load.

You'll be much better off with a window type ac than any 'portable' type.
Won't take much, 6000+ or so btu will keep it frosty.

The portables work fair just take up a lot of space, the exhaust tube needs to be sealed & screened or bugs / wasps will make nests in it.
In my experience they don't hold a consistent temp, at all, especially in a travel trailer.

I'm a big fan of Honda & Yamaha inverter generators. Very quiet, fuel efficient, reliable most importantly you can find parts & lots of places to service or repair if needed.

Bobo, change the oil.

I did last month roflmao I need to change plugs though

You are right on window unit. 6k btu is only pulling 600+- watts.

I had an old Airstream for deer lease use. I bought and installed a window unit, which did an Ok job, and I ran it with an old Honda 1000w. The Honda was a 1984 model and was still running fine when I sold it last year. Replaced it with a Honda 2200.

if its for deer lease, as others have said you are much better off installing a window unit and seal it up. I'd go with a cheaper generator Champion or Predator and longer cord to place it away from the camp. You can build a box (large enough for unit to breathe) around the unit to help with noise and give it some protection. I just installed a Dansby from Costco in a 27' old camper and its keeping it very comfortable cool in this heat now.

Predator 3500 will run a window unit for 12+ hrs on a tank and is whisper quiet. Honda eu2000i worked as well but was struggling to kick on compressor at times.

I run the Predator 3500 as my main source of power. pretty quiet until you put a load on it then the noise cranks up some.

To run our trailer it uses .38 to .50 gallons per hour. I have added a 6.6 gallon tank to it for longer run times.

I also have a predator 3500 and really like it. It powered a roof top AC and fans no problem!!! I find it very quiet!
