My wife keeps up with social media. I knew my cousin in Colorado has been posting a lot about cononavirus, pleading everyone to take care and so on. I didn't think much about it cuz she is the one bleeding heart lib in the family... anti gun especially. We've gone back and forth on that a few times since she would rather her kid attend a school without any armed teachers.
Well, she posted up that she has had it since mid April and is still struggling with catching her breathe sometimes. Her teenage son and husband also got it. Her son also has had a hard time kicking it, but the husband that apparently has the worst habits got over it in 10 days. She hasn't been hospitalized so that's a good thing. She is... well, not very young and not very skinny so it could be a lot worse for her.
Just thought I'd throw it out there. First family and only second person that I actually know to get it. First one was a local LEO, first LEO in the city to get and recover from it.

All were short stents.

One of the guys I served with in Vietnam has it, was in the hospital from mid Feb until last month, now in a rehab facility to get his strength and voice back. His wife also had it, hers was a mild case, only 4 weeks in the hospital. He said he has about 2 months of rehab ahead of him.

I was sick for five weeks, starting in January. The doctor told me flat out that they didn't know what it was. Chest x-ray showed something like pneumonia but the radiologist said it wasn't pneumonia. I was so short of breath it was difficult getting to the end of my driveway.
It took two visits and two rounds of meds and five weeks to get over whatever it was.
My guess is that this crap hit the US long before January.
I've told this story to numerous people and they either had the same experience or someone close to them did.

That's about the time frame I had a real bad cough and sweats and chills. I just figured it was the flu since I hadn't gotten a shot. That cough took a long time to get over.
One shot is all it should take.

My mom said she had the same thing that you described in January as well. My wife lost an uncle to this.

I had a doctor visit yesterday to have something checked out. Then we got on the subject of this virus. I had all the same symptoms you mention here except I don't remember being short of breath. I was just sicker than I have ever been. I coughed so hard it wore me out day and night. I had a fever as well. Thinking it would pass I fought it a couple of weeks before even calling the doc. This was during the height of the flu during Christmas holidays and early January. My doctor simply presumed the flu without seeing me or risk me infecting anyone at his clinic. He called in meds and I got well. After talking about this yesterday he said if he thought the antibody test would be accurate he would like to see me tested just out of curiosity.

If you're hospitalized and recover, if you don't have good insurance, it could easily bankrupt you. That's reason enough to take it seriously.

That's reason enough to take insurance seriously too. There's a lot more without now than there were a few months ago.

After talking about this yesterday he said if he thought the antibody test would be accurate he would like to see me tested just out of curiosity. Same here. I thought I might be able to provide help but the tests are questionable, to say the least. I'll never forget that cough, I pulled a muscle in my side...coughing.
