That's not too smart having a facility unfenced from the cows.

I used to have cattle. It was a PITA. Always something going on. Neighbors bull and my bull working on fences. Neighbors bull jumping fence into mine. Eating up wiring on trailers. Knocking stuff over in the shop and sheds. Not making any money when it was time to sell. I got rid of all of them and just kept my Ibex. Not near as much trouble as cattle and make a heck of a lot more money.

I've been fooling with them too long now. It's just part of the landscape. I enjoy it. And you can make some money at it.

True. Opening the mailbox and pulling out the check from the sale barn ain't too bad.

Sold my 100 acre spread SouthWest of La Grange almost 3 1/2 years ago and all of the Longhorns except a few and left um out there for the new owners AG deal. They tore up a lot over the 12 years but miss the working them. Still keep this , A Power River Longhorn Chute, as I help Folks that ain't got one to work the Long Horned Peckers.

Last Fall, opening day of dove season, my dad and I were hunting along a tree line in the morning. I hunted 'til about 8;30, but decided to walk back to house. Pops likes to sit longer, so I left him with the Mule and decoys. He comes in about an hour later and apologizes that the seat on the Mule is all ripped up and two of the decoys have broken wings. WTH Pops? He walked to another pasture to see if any birds flying, and when he came back, one cow was eating the UTV seat, and another was eating a decoy. We got lucky that the battery pack on the MOJO fell out and onto the ground, instead of being swallowed. Cows are curious, but dumb.

Horses on the other hand, are curious, but pretty smart and mischievous.

Several years ago a friend and I were hunting SoTex. Cow lease guy had put 3 horses on the 1500ac pasture. While we hunted almost 2mi apart the horses ate all the rubber molding on windows of our trucks they could eat. Tore the hell outta stuff.

They (Powder River) don't make them anymore. Don't think anybody does. It was big bucks when new. Only way to work them. The Circle Brye Squeeze Circles will get you killed.

Had a bull go over to my 4wheeler and suck the key out of the ignition then swallow it. Summertime in flip flops 1.5 miles from the house. Yeah, I hate cows too.

Wife bought a new Ford Expedition back years ago, drove it home and didn't put it inside the ranch house gate. Just a minute outside and Her pet Steer, all 2000 lbs of him dismantled the back of it. Guess he seen his reflection in the glass. Knocked glass out, both tail light assemblies and dented the tailgate. Less than 50 miles on it. She learned Her lesson. I've got a million of um after being around about 100 or 2 of those Longhorns over the years.

Reminds me of a story my dad told me. One of his fraternity brothers in college came to a ranch and was harassing a few horses in his convertible when he pulled up. I think he chased a few around the road or something to piss them off. Well, he parked that thing with the top down and those horses ate the entire interior of that car by morning.

Neighbor at the farm started feeding his cows right next to our shared fence.

The bull on our side liked what he saw......got his head under the bottom wire and picked up the 5 wire fence and waltzed right over there. Pull 3 post out of the ground and bent the !@#$ out of the 4th.

On the other side of the property we have a pipe fence with welded sucker rod in between. Yep he busted right through. We have an electric wire up now to break him of that. We shall see if it works.
