The small place I hunt has at least parts of the big sounder coming in episodically during the middle of the night. Ouple of lone boars including the bid dude as well. Haven't had a daytime video in a while. Today I was on a morning walk on a greenbelt and noticed hundreds of earthworms on the trail. Dont know if it was local or not but there were a lot. No hogs on this greenbelt but got me wondering...? Have also seen the hogs on me vids eating the big clover blossoms. Today when I pulled the cams there was a vid of a young hog chewing on a pecan branch I had broken off like a giraffe. I'm going to investigate that further. Also, 300 yards away from cover, the ground has been torn up under an oak tree. Grubs or worms I figure, lone boar I suspect. That area hasn't been touched in 2 years since i thinned out the first group that was living there darned near.

Pics are of torn up ground, worms, and the two little pecan trees my cameras are on. Let me know if you all want to see the vid of the hog eating the branch. Headed out with my bow to public land. Wish me luck

Eating under an oak tree, an area not touched by hogs? My guess is that while he may be eating invertebrates, he is probably also eating acorns. He may be eating acorns because they are acorns and he likes acorns, and/or because this late in the game, many are probably homes to worms. He may be eating sprouted acorns.

DNS - let me rephrase. This place use to be covered in hogs. The fenceline in the pic separates 2 pastures. To the right it slopes off to a creek bottom about 300 yards off. I've thinned them out to where they stay in the creek bottom area. Haven't seen sign - tracks, rooting, video - in 2 years on this fenceline or in the north pasture. I have seen them rooting here before and there are a ton of june bugs under these trees for whatever reason. The fenceline has greenbriars and they've rooted up the greenbriar literally all along the fenceline in the past. My point was that they're roaming the property more which has surprised me b/c I hadn't seen it in a while.

Vid I referenced. He may have wanted the immature fruit on the branch.

DT - I am sure you are making some point, but I have no idea what it is. All the stuff you stated in no way conflicts with the notion that the hog may be utilizing acorns still under the tree that apparently has been without hogs for a couple of years. Hogs eat acorns fresh, old, wormy, sprouted, buried by squirrels, etc. They will eat them until they are gone, whether that happens by early winter or well into the following year.
