High teens. I had to talk myself into that second pic of first deer being the same deer. Just looks bigger all over and more beam out past RG3. Mid 140s on second. Its always helpful to have some idea of the body size to help with the score. The pics of the mounts offer an interesting peak into clues to scoring. You can try to compare the size of light socket and size of bricks/tile to dimensions of the horns. Whats so important is the angles that ANY pics are taken can be so deceptive. If you look at the size of the bricks towards the top they appear much larger than the ones at the bottom. I figure thats just cause the camera is up higher and thus closer to the ones at the top. Same reason the second book looks bigger with his head up towards the feeder and his body slightly farther away. Same as a fish or dead deer being positioned with the person back further away from the subject. Many different angles needed to make good estimates. I love these scoring threads cause they can be so educational. I hope that now that STx is back he will chime in. Hes usually always closer than me. If you youngun killed that buck its for sure a good one. Congrats on both bucks.

Congrats on a couple of great bucks! After seeing the skulls I would say a bit lower than my first ones above. 118-120 142-148

122 to 124 on the 8 pt.(with adding in the broken BT) and 151 to 154 on the 12 pt with the split brows. He looks bigger in the last pic than he does in the live shot to me...I keep getting more on the score than what he looks like though. He has a lot of tine length and I scored the left split brows as both of them coming off the MB from that one pic. If that split does not come off the base then I would drop off 2-2.5" off my guess. Very nice bucks and congrats!

The split brow looked a little bigger than he was: Please check my math, I be happy if I made a mistake and he scored more!

The split brow looked a little bigger than he was: Please check my math, I be happy if I made a mistake and he scored more! Man, I missed him badly. I did not add up the down frame but just guessed 93 on his beams, spread and mass for my score range guesses since he looked to have decent beams and spread. I gave him 9" on the G1's and 32" on the 2's and 3's with 11" on the 4's. Then 7" on the NT. His spread and beams are way less than what it looked like in the pics and I think I figured he looked thin on mass...so 27-28 mass would have been my guess. His mass looks like about what the deer here have on mass. I killed a 5x5 buck that was low 30's last year here and he looks way bigger than the buck I killed.

Im not sure how experienced you are at measuring but you look short on your brows and on the splits. Which makes me wonder if you are short on all the tines. Not trying to offend you in any way cause I sure dont know. Just trying to get the score up for you. He really looks bigger than 133. Another reason I think you may of miss measured is that STx would almost never be off 20". I really glad you posted this stuff-- it seems like its been slow in deer hunting section. Any excuse to get out of Off Topic.

Just for reference this buck was just over 131 and your buck looks way bigger. His mass was only little over 24" for a 5 yr old buck..could have been older due to injury to his jawbone. Did not see the injury in the past but did that day when he walked out. He was thin so I decided to shoot him. This was the exit wound and the bottom jaw teeth and top jaw teeth were all out of line. The fighting injury was bad as the would channel came from the bottom and up then out this location. I found pics from 2017, 2018 and 2019 where he had this same wound. I saw him quite a bit in the past years but mainly late season so he never looked thin or bad. This year this was the only time I had seen him in the daylight and he look in bad shape compared to other bucks. He dressed 100 lbs and that is by far the smallest bodied mature buck killed here...most will dress from 125 to 145 depending on when they are killed. I had guessed him to be mid 130's when he walked out.

What is misleading/easy to over estimate is the IS for your buck is only 16 and change. He looked much wider than that in the pics. I think the whole frame of him is smaller than what the pics show given that one measurement alone. Can account for many lost inches in score estimates.
This is why it is fun too. See a pic, guess a score, see the actual score, figure where you went wrong. That’s my mantra every time I make a guesstimate, but when everything is smaller than it appears, the whole thing is off by a bunch. Still a nice deer

Man TXh6 it is hard to believe he is not more than that! Any way you could post a picture with both skull mounts side by side?
I was giving him about 89-91" on his frame and figured his tines at 53"-57". I really thought his beams would be 42-43" and that his mass was nearer 28"
Hell, I'd rather kill a lower scoring deer that looks higher scoring then the other way around any day!!!
Two great bucks for sure NO matter the score. Congrats again.

The split brow looked a little bigger than he was: Please check my math, I be happy if I made a mistake and he scored more! Looking at this and your other pics, I think you have him scored correctly. He's a great looking buck and I would have taken him, but tine length and mass hurt the total number. But it's just a number, be proud of that trophy!

Your math does look correct. It looks like you took the measurement of the split off the brow at the wrong place. Not saying to go all the way down at all. It wouldnt make a huge difference but I just gave him a lot more on all 4 of the brow measurements. I dont think the beam and spread and mass seem off at all. There are usually a lot of official scorers for TBGA around and even though its too late to officially score they would probably rough score him real quick if wanted to know. Us inquiring minds would like to know. Great bucks regardless of score. As some one said earlier, I would rather have one that looks bigger than it scores than one that scores more than it looks. Thanks for giving us the pics of the taping. We need more activity in Deer Hunting section and less in Off Topic.

Here’s one side by side: Thank you sir Now with them side by side it makes more sense to me on the score of the 5x5 with split brows. The 8 point does have a larger frame which I didn't think was the case without this view of them. Again, two great bucks and a big congrats to you both!
