Almost every morning my Lab and I go walking for a couple of miles. This morning I saw a new fawn in a yard. As we walked by the fawn started approaching us until it was nose to nose with the dog. The fawn actually started sniffing the dogs side like it wanted to nurse. We just stood there. Didn't take Mama long to come over and start stomping and snorting . The fawn just laid down about 3 feet away. Trying to hold the dog back and work the phone camera I missed the focus on what would have been the best shot. My lab behaved like she should and just nosed the baby.

Talk about a close encounter, glad it ended up well for all involved as doe can get very aggressive when there is a baby involved. Cute little buck fawn and a VERY well behaved Lab.

VERY nice picture of Mom & son. Looks like she's still bristling.

My dog was almost killed when a doe who recently fawned jumped into our back yard. Great pics, but I suggest you and your dog are pretty lucky too. up

No doubt. That's something most of us will never get to see. When you live in Comal county though, newborn fawns are all over the place. Your lab was a good dog. Very cool story and pics. Thanks for sharing.
