My grandsons have been asking me to do a fried shrimp meal so today I decided to do a pool party and shrimp fest for the whole family.
Did fried shrimp, red beans and rice, jalapeño cornbread and some stuffed bacon wrapped jalapeños.
Adults had watermellon and cantaloupe and boys had ice cream sandwiches for dessert.
Grammy did her homemade tarter sauce which is always a big hit also as she adds a bit of horseradish to it along with dill weed.
Nap time soon.

We picked up that Tarter sauce recipe at a Ducks Unlimited banquet in Sealy TX years ago and get lots of compliments on it.
The crazy thing is those shrimp, Extra Jumbo 16-20 ct/lb were cheaper than hamburger at Tom Thumb. I always check with the meat mgr on what’s the best deal and he pointed me to the shrimp. They were 1/2 price!

Grammy’s tarter sauce

2 -3 cups Mayonnaise (not MW), we like Dukes.
1/3 cup horseradish (not horseradish sauce)
1/2 cup minced onion
2-3 Tbls dill relish
1 Tbls dill weed
Salt and garlic salt to taste
Red, white and black pepper to taste
Dash of paprika

Adjust as needed to suit your tastes.

I prefer red sauce with horseradish, but I'm not particular. I'd eat the snot out of that. Thanks a bunch for posting.

That’s looks/sounds absolutely delicious. But a 1/3 cup of straight horseradish? Man that must be spicy. Bet it will wake you up in the morning. Can’t wait to try. I have a problem with horseradish. It’s my drug of choice. I love that burn. When it takes your breath away.

I hear you on the heat index but as is the case in many things, there are big differences in brands etc.
We have settled in on Beavers brand which is not nearly as hot as Kraft and some others. Again, spice it to your taste buds based on the horseradish spicy level.

Want to really have a treat, make a Bloody Mary with Spicy V8, Gin (not Vodka) Worcestershire, a teaspoon of the Beavers horseradish, a dash of celery salt and garnish with your choice of celery stick, Jalapeño stuffed olives or cucumber wedges.
