I think it was a fluke kind of deal for a throttle body to fail at 24k. I don’t think they’re expensive or hard to replace anyways. It’s as good as new now.

Theres currently 50 yr old and even way older usa manufactured vehicles still on the road. 50 yr old toyotas have been crushed, steel shipped to china, came back as a cheap bbg pit at walmart. In 40 yrs there will never be a 50yr old tundra still on the road either
50 years ago Ford was making trucks when toyota was making little cars for little girls.

Folks can trash Toyota if they want, but Toyota is the reason that American vehicles are better than they once were. Used to be that 100,000 miles was as far as a US made car would last, but when Toyota came to town the US makers had to up their game. I remember back in 1978 or 79 when I was in the market for a new car. We had a 77 Olds Cutlass, which was a good car, but it was going to the oldest daughter. About that time I started carpooling with a neighbor lady (hot blonde, but that’s off topic) who drove a 1979 Toyota Celica. I was absolutely stunned at what a nice car that was - the leather, fit and finish, good quiet ride, excellent mileage. It was just flat way better than my 77 Olds. I bought a 1980 Toyota Celica and loved it. Never bought another US made car again, though I did drive some early 80’s Buicks and Pontiac company cars, and they were trash.

I did spend some years with a BMW 5 Series. Loved it, but it was expensive to own. I was making big money back then, so maintenance expenses were not a big deal. Eventually, when I was near retirement (2007) I bought my present Tundra pickup. Again I was shocked at how little it cost to own and maintain. I still have it. I don’t think it’ll ever die. The starter did go out at 160,000 miles, but prior to that I had a tail light bulb go out. That’s all the non-standard maintenance I can remember right now. Brakes lasted 100k. The BMW brakes were good for 30,000.

So, buy what you want. I do.

I really like that bad arse 3/4 ton diesel Toyota makes....hold on wait a min...

My last F-150 had 173k on the odo when I sold it and it ran like it was brand new when I sold it.

My buddy has a 03’ F-150 with a 5.4 w/ 600k on it original trans and engine

Aside from thr 6.0 and the 6.4 diesels Ford makes a damn reliable truck

For it is not the quarry that we truly seek, but the adventure.

Anyone familiar with lemon laws?

Truck is 8 months old, 24,400 miles...I thought the cut-off was 24K miles or two years - whichever came first - but hope there might be some leniency on it - considering shutting off at a red light is a safety issue in my book. After doing some reading it looks like this is a known issue since way back when - VCT solenoids or cam phasers. Have to push Ford very hard to replace under warranty because 9/10 it doesn't throw a code.

Should have stuck with Ram. Beyond irritating.

That blows man. Good luck.
I knew a guy that pushed dodge to replace under lemon over the mile limit because of something odd I know it can be done.
