I'm considering a bear hunt but before I do I'd like to find out my options and costs between a quality rug with skull or full size mount and names of possible taxidermists that do quality work on Bears! okiehuntr

I have a full size rug with skull attached. While it is really cool I can’t tell you the # of times someone has nearly broken their toe kicking the head. Cool concept but make sure you have space for it.

Curious!! Could the rug be attached to the wall running vertically?? Would probably be tricky.

Hang it like I hung an elk hide. Have a felt backing sewn to hide, out some brass eyelets in the felt. Hang on the wall.

I'm talking with the head/skull on, can be done, really would rather have full size greeter at door!

The full body mount would be the best. Yes you can hang a rug mount with head on the wall. My FIL has his hung like that.

I have seen both, I liked the wall mount of rug a lot more than the body mount. A shoulder mount, was semi okay, but the wall rug was the top one.

If you are from SE Oklahoma you should know about Womack's. He has a museum with all kinds of mounts that he has done with several bears to look at. It is located close to Beaver's Bend on highway 59 north of Broken Bow. His price list is on his website search Beavers Bend Museum.

not sure why but i think brown bear/griz is standing full body mount mouth open, black bear/color phase is rug with head on.

black/color phase looks better with closed mouth (more natural). I have full rug/head skull and a should mount on pedestal. Rug can be hung on wall. 3/4 body and full body mounts gets real expensive really fast. I'd rather put that $ to other hunts. I love my pedestal mount the best. Had rug done in Canada and pedestal done byk Buddy at Rustic in Anniston TX. Buddy hands down will get all my future work.
