Had this yellow bellied water snake in the yard this morning. I tried to direct him out of the yard and into the pasture so the cats and dogs wouldn't get him but he wanted no part of it. He headed to the rose bush by the porch and would not give any ground. Seems kind of skinny to me.

Not a snake guy but are you sure on that ID?
Haven't had it in years but never spit any out. I am a sucker for happy endings and strapped cowboys.

Looks like a yellow belly racer to me. Our yellow belly water snakes here are gray almost like a cottonmouth.

Cool. I thought he looked skinny, plus he wasn't as aggressive as other yellow bellied water snakes I've encountered. Thanks.

Texas Mamba. They all give me a heart attack! Same here Blank. I don't care what kind of snake it is. Out in a pasture it gets a pass but if it's in the yard it dies.
