Anyone have an app they use for finding a property line, etc.?
I have point A and point B, but it is heavily wooded and undulated in between. I am wanting to clear a fence line, but need to follow the property line fairly closely on the first pass. (I can get a string once I have a clear path.)

I wouldn't trust an app or the County Appraisal District GIS boundary layer feature that can be overlayed on any of the popular online map sites such as Mapquest or Google Maps. If your intent is to clear and fence along the property boundary per the platte survey, I'd suggest having a boundary survey done by a surveying company.

Did you get a survey when you purchased the property?

I called a surveyor to relocate my corners and put down some boundary marks. Some was pretty thick, and his GPS machine wouldn’t work under the thick canopy.

Did you get a survey when you purchased the property? Yes. I have the corners marked, just not the line in between.

If you have the corners marked then you just need an accurate compass and the heading to the next corner. You'll find out how good at orienteering you are. An OnX chip might help you, gps would be my other recc.

Interested in the responses here. I need about 2800 feet of line marked in very heavy woods, with elevation changes.
I tried talking to a surveyor a few years ago...all he would do was quote me a hourly rate for his crew. Implied they would need to hack\chainsaw a clear line of sight.
We all need to practice Whoa more.

Survey crew will do it right and yes they cost more. An app may get you close. How right do you want this to be?

Hire a survey crew unless you are sure the lines are straight and true with no small variations.

Talk to your neighbor about splitting the cost of a survey to establish the property line and the fence. Both of you will benefit.

I just went through this. Had to pay the piper to make sure we were correct.

i often cut senderos through thick cover by hand and im pretty low tech so you dont want my way.. I often have a point A and B so this seems like similar issue. Im curious about options and Landglide sounds good.

I have point A and point B, but it is heavily wooded and undulated in between. I am wanting to clear a fence line, but need to follow the property line fairly closely on the first pass. (I can get a string once I have a clear path.) If you need to determine a path to clear, determine the minute of angle from one marker to the distant marker and use that to clear the path. That should be accurate enough to get you started.
