Steven's wife is my wife's life long best friend. They are both dear family friends and this loss is hitting hard. It's cliche to say, but I can say without a doubt Steve was special beyond words. He fought his battle with cancer with unbelievable grace. I will forever miss him and forever greatful for what a true hero role model he was for both of my boys. So much so that he helped lead my oldest son into the fire service. Rest easy Brother.

^^True words.

He was an absolute warrior, with a kind heart. He will be severely missed.

This was Steven before cancer wrecked his body. Athletic, strong, fast, and very intelligent. The kind of guy you want beside you when the chit is hitting the fan. He had just come out of an offensive fire attack, and was probably standing there ticked off the Battalion Chief made him take a break and get some water.

At some point in life its time to quit chasing the pot of gold and just enjoy the rainbow. FR
