Sneaky, you're probably right if that comparison wide one scored at 146". This one is probably wider and has longer tine length and likely more mass as well. I'll revise up to 5.5yo and 158".

Yes it does make them a little wider than they are that is for sure , we watched this buck for 4 years and i think he actually may have had a little more mass the previous year . We have him on camera a lot and he just looked like he was going to be about 26-28'' wide in some of the pics and thats why i would put yours a little lower just based off of the TC pics but seeing him on the ground i'll say he is ........165 and 26'' also bet he is about 6 1/2 as well . Great looking buck , what area was this in if you don't mind me asking .

I don’t know, Stub. I’m not great at guessing scores on deer that big. I’ll bet he’s well past 150, though.

freerange, I have no doubt that I am probably shorting him some and usually do. I'm rarely over on my 'on the hoof' scoring'.

I still think he was 6.5 though and probably at least 25" IS.
Wouldn't surprise me one bit if he busted 160", especially if he is over 25" inside.

AND THE WINNER IS;;;;;;;;;; Officially BC scored for TBGA at 159, 25 1/8 wide and 25 beam. Lot of uncertainty on age but most at lease thought 5 and tooth wear appeared to show that. We weren't sending teeth to lab back then. Thanks for playing along and hope it offered some insight and entertainment. The other 10 age and score threads the deer are still alive--feel free to chime in more on them.

OK, I feel good about the age and the width, but boy did I miss out on the score.

With me its always Gross unless specified. I have an appreciation for net but for me the scores are important for record keeping in order to evaluate management progress so gross makes sense. Most of yall missed him low for sure.
dont have score sheet handy but other approximate measurements were brows 5, left 7 9 6. right 11 11. Bottom 105, top 54.

I got him at 163" gross and 24" inside.

155 to 160 5.5 years old is my guess .... edited. I just saw the official. So I was close.

There was a 9 like that killed on the Matthew's Lambshead Ranch back in the mid 90's that scored 165. He was a little taller than this buck and was a war horse. Got pictures of his possible sire after I was tagged out. Big typical 12. Biggest dear I ever saw.

I get 104 to 106 down with 52-54 up. He looks to have about the same spread as a buck I killed up in Kent County back in the late 90's..24 6/8" inside so around 25" give or take a shade. He had some long beams and pretty good tine length for a 9pt frame. Pretty buck.
