Once the looting starts, you lose much of your support. Rational people know that there is no valid connection between the two situations. Rioters/protesters may be 100% right in their anger and frustration. Their response is not, nor will it ever work. They actually devalue the life of the victim more by their response. They transform the desire for justice to simply selfishness. The narrative switches from the victim and perpetrators to the rioters. Just look at this thread. Every post was about the victim and LE, most in favor of the victim, until the rioting started. Then the division came in and the victim is mentioned less.
If you truly wish to change the world, you must first start with your own actions.

EXACTLY! Rioting and looting is never legal! What I don't understand and maybe someone can explain is why is it that back in 2017 when a black officer in the same city shot a unarmed white woman that was doing nothing illegal, there were no riots. As a matter of fact, the NAACP and the BLM group supported the officer and were saying the officer was convicted just because he was black. It took the police department about 4 months to investigate the shooting. Where was the outrage?

The cop went too far The looters are going too far This is going nowhere It's just starting. There are those who will take advantage of the chaos and use it as a tool. Same goes for foodstamps. Without them, the country will explode

Cops like that are the same worker drones that will enforce firearm confiscation when it comes to that state in mid-2021.

First, I don’t condone or excuse the actions of the LEO’s or those rioting and looting. I do however want to correct some misconceptions about the LEO’s knee on the neck of the subject. This misconception has surfaced time and again throughout recent LEO related deaths. When you cut off someone’s airway sufficiently to cause death the person being choked would not be able to speak as clearly as the man on the ground was speaking. He was saying he couldn’t breath but the LEO’s knee was on the side of his neck not on the front where the trachea is most vulnerable. The carotid artery however is very vulnerable. When sufficient pressure is applied to the carotid artery it cuts off blood flow and oxygen to the brain which in effect causes you to pass out. If the pressure is continued it could and often does lead to death. Again, not excusing the LEO’s actions. IMHO, extremely and recklessly negligent. Once the subject was under control, which seems to be most if not the entire time of the video, he should have been put in the car and removed from the scene. Extending their time at the scene just led to more agitated onlookers.

None of that video excuses leaving your knee and the weight of your body on the mans neck for more than 3 minutes after he goes unconscious instead of rendering aid. I'm not excusing anybody of anything. For some strange reason several minutes of this situation has been removed from the overall picture. There's at least one store front camera that caught the whole thing from them putting him cuffed against the wall to them leading him to the cruiser but it mysteriously ends before he's on the ground with three officers on his back. Why was he put on the ground? He was probably put on the ground because he was being non-compliant, combative, difficult, would not get in the cruiser, etc... You can speculate. The guy was in cuffs and there were a number of officers present. Did he deserve to be choked to death or die? The video speaks for itself. All cops present should be arrested and charged accordingly. Being fired is the least of their worries or problems. Choked to death? Shouldn't we wait for the cause of death to be determined? He most likely was resisting. You can hear the crowd telling the guy that's what he gets, and to stop resisting. Then after a while they turn on the officers. I think if the officers had as much common sense as the crowd this wouldn't be an issue. So in hand cuffs and on the ground it called for the officer to be kneeling on his neck as well for as long as he did? Obviously the COP thought it was excessive...fired the lot of them.
I am still looking for the perfect apron, one with reinforced knee areas would be perfect.

How could his knee be on the front of his neck? He was on the ground.

Terrible unneccessary death. But rioting in the streets, robbing and burning down buildings is ridiculous!

I wonder how things would be different if a black cop had done the exact same thing to white guy on the ground. There wouldn't be any riots. Probably little if any national news coverage. The city certainly wouldn't burn. A black (and muslim) cop shot an unarmed white woman in Minneapolis in 2017. After local outrage they carried out nearly a 9 month investigation and the cop got 12.5 years - but again - no riots. Black on white bad policing doesn't fit the narrative - nor does black on white crime. Nor does black on black crime. Only white on black. All about a narrative. You have black leaders calling for a "revolt" against the white folk. That is absolutely absurd. What happened to George Floyd was despicable. Justice will be served. However - using the actions of 3-4 crappy officers to justify burning a city and rioting around the country is moronic and certainly doesn't support the narrative that black people are always the "victims" of the white man.

It is a shame that someone lost their life over a forged check. As for him saying "I can't breath", you see it over and over on a whole lot of arrests. It is almost like that is a way to get the cops to back off so that they can escape or assault the officers. If the officer that put the knee to the man had no reason (I will wait for all of the videos & the trial) before I make a judgment call without all of the evidence. If there isn't, then the officer is in for some hard time. Logical reasoning. As for the riots and criminal activity afterwards...how is that going to further your cause?

Police work is actually very simple, treat others as you want to be treated, respect all life, obey the laws you enforce, go home at the end of your shift.....There is no way to look at this incident in a good light. The video makes me uncomfortable and I served more than forty years, thought I had seen about everything. I pray for all involved and hope our nation can someday start to heal.
