Guy next door sprayed some pear in the last month, and already the leaves are bending/curling. I didn't get a chance to talk to him. I've used Tordon before and it was months before you saw any activity. Any idea what chemical could do that in such short time? I know there's a new one on the market but this is very surprising to me.

Remedy or Sendero would be my guess.

Let me ask my Mom. My grandfather had to go get a license to get what he used and I was so flippin’ irritated at how well it worked. This is after NUMEROUS times of going out early with him to try to cut them back before the morning dew burned off. One of the very few projects I hated doing with him

Grubbing hoe, grain shovel and kerosene and or diesel was our method. Dig it up, stack it and burn it.

She couldn’t remember which one but I’d say it was one with picloram, Surmount, Tordon22K, and Grazon P+D.

Ask your neighbor if he’s using the new stuff with fluroxypyr that doesn’t require applicator license. No soil residual, also showing to work quicker.

I have sprayed it both with round up and sendero around my house, both seem to start having an effect in the time frame you say. The ones I have sprayed have been in/across the fence between me and my neighbor who doesn't care to do anything with his and seems like in a few years it always comes creeping back from his side.

Depending on where and how much of it repeated mowing will kill it also.

I’ve used mezavue with some success.

I use Remedy with diesel

Yup. 4 diesel: 1 Remedy

If it has roots, it will die. Meanest herbicide on the planet. Have yet to find something that mix won't kill, including prickly pear.

Found out today. He’s using a combination of mesavue and Surmount.

If you toss a quart of ammonium sulfate per 20 gallons into whatever you use it will seriously speed up the up-take, especially in July and August. It fools the plant into thinking you're feeding it a Snicker's bar.
