Tried something new today and cut the bottom out of a couple plastic jars of peanut butter and screwed the lids to a tree. Then i put them back in the lid and set up trail cams. Guess we will see what happens.

It may take awhile, but the deer will eventually go after it. We used tp buy day old loaves of bread at the bakery and the cheapest peanut butter we could find to take to the state [ark tp feed the deer. Slop on a lot of peanut butter on a slice of bread, fold it over. It is hilarious when the get it stuck on the roof of their mouth. Did the same during season in the pasture.

Good luck! I tried this a few years ago but only got pics of squirrels and raccoons getting it. I don't think a jar ever lasted longer enough for the deer to get used to it.

Put a piece of wire through the jar lid. Cut a couple of holes in the plastic jar. Smear some on a tree. Hang the jar where the coons can’t get to it. Put it out 3 or 4 days before hunting.

The storms a few days ago blew my peanut butter tree down so I poured out a bag of corn and had these 2 show up in less than 8 hours

I used to buy barrels from our cookie factory that had peanut butter in them. There was always a little left over in the barrel to wash out. We wuld scoop it out and save it 5 gallon buckets to make a peanut butter hard candy. As best I can remember this was how we made it..

This is a basic recipe, like the one we used, might need to be doubled or tripled, and before it hardened we added as much deer corn as we could, filling up a plastic bucket. Grease the bucket so you can rip it off easier. If you want to hang it from a tree, shove a wire coat hanger down the middle. If you lay it on the ground, the deer will stomp it and break it up and it will be gone quickly, .

Quote
Peanut Butter Hard Candy

2 cups sugar
1 cup light corn syrup
1/2 cup water
2 cups peanut butter
Stir together sugar, corn syrup, and water in a large, heavy-bottomed pot. Heat over medium heat until mixture boils. Place your candy thermometer into the mixture and continue boiling until it reaches the “hard crack” stage (295 to 310 degrees F).

While mixture boils (and well before it reaches the hard crack stage), measure peanut butter into a large bowl. Pour boiled syrup mixture over peanut butter and stir very well. Work fast. (This is where it helps to have two people for stirring.) Turn onto a baking sheet or platter. Cut while still hot.

I was watching this deer last year. Acorns on the ground. It would pick up one and crunch crunch. It hit me, even deer like crunchy food.

Have used a 5 gallon bucket filled with some peanut butter and molasses mixed with a bit of water, about 10 small holes drilled in bottom for it to ooze out. Deer, pigs and of course flying insects love it. Would set it up just off a game trail and not near the feeder, hung up in a tree about 5 feet off the ground. Worked pretty well.

If you're in East Texas, you might wanna use a little caution leaving out peanut butter, because ole bigfoot likes peanut butter too! We have audio recordings of hearing one come walking up to the bait tree, then tasting the peanut butter and smacking his lips!!! We use the peanut butter cups and set out three or four at a location with an audio recorder hanging nearby.

Listen and you will hear the walkup, creature searching for the smell, finds it. This audio runs almost 11 minutes

That must be the cause of the tree coming down.
