I ended up with one of those a couple of years back.. 84 model I believe. Traded it for a nice AR in 300 blackout and felt like I got the better end of the deal.

That brings back some memories! Crashed a couple of them back in the day. Luckily, I was young enough to heal up quickly. Would be a serious event these days.

I had a new 1983 185s and later in life got an 84 big red. Great machines only as dangerous as you make them.

Fun but basic design flaw that makes them tumble so dang easy. Younger bro broke his collar bone and damn near his neck on one.

Yep fun but roll way too easy, I’ve rolled a few. Ex wife’s Uncle rolled one and crushed his skull on a rock. He lived but has a steel plate in his head. Got a big settlement out of the deal and bought in on a 3,000 acre ranch and a bought a house.

That is a nice clean rig though, good find.

You turned left, it went left and threw you right over the handlebars...been there, done that.

Fun on flat ground, the beach and inclines less that 20 degrees or it was going to roll over.

I went into barbed wire myself on my brothers. It was the last time I ever rode one with any craziness

I dropped my foot off the peg on a sand dune while riding a Big Red in about 1984 or 85. Knobby caught my calf and rode up to my knee, then sucked me off the side of the machine. I lost a lot of hide and was bruised purple from the three wheeler rolling back onto me after I was off. They are fun, but there is a reason they are not sold new anymore.

I have owned quite a few, never any wrecks but I just use the one I have to work with or retrieve game with, those things cut thru the woods with ease. Seems like someone always comes along and talks me out of them then the hunt starts all over again.

25 or more years ago I was following a fence line going a little too fast and came up on a corner. Went through the barbwire and the fence kept the 3 wheeler from landing on me. All I got was a scratch on the back. Never got on one again.

No reason to outlaw 3 wheelers or v8’s in jeeps other than weeners said so...

Did they actually outlaw them or just quit making?

To be determined

In 1988, the federal government banned the sale of three-wheeled ATVs, citing a wave of injuries and deaths. The industry quickly converted to four-wheeled machines, and the sport's popularity exploded.

The main thing dangerous was the drivers. Like I said earlier, I put many a mile on one, never a wreck or flipped one. A lot of kids died because of irresponsible adults, the parents were as dangerous as the trikes were.

Even the 4-wheelers can have some tough consequences - here's a sad but inspiring story about one such accident: https://helpharrison.org/
