You were saying selling to gun shop means an individual is resolved if responsibility. You said a lawyer would sue YOU and your momma. Find an individual citizen who was sued. Bushmaster and Remington aren’t at all what your original point was about.

Your hung up on the word “legal” , you go through a stop sign, it’s green, you’re legal. You get sued because 5 people die. Your litigation costs are $300,000.00 or your insurance co. can settle for $100,000.00. They settle. You sell a gun to mr. Sandy Hook(legally!!!!), 25 attorneys are coming after you and your dog and farm. They won’t give a crap if you sold it legal or not—- you’re legal cost will kill you. On the other hand- a gun shop has its own problems, as such, low offers.

And like I asked, find a single time that has ever happened to an individual.

Sure, it “could” happen. But I”could” be attacked by a bear in my driveway, doesn’t mean I carry a Tbone in my pocket to distract him.

Having owned and operated a small country gun shop for 33 years, the thing that I see over time that most customers have a hard time with, is "custom" guns. You take a Remington 700, either you or even a decent gunsmith made some mods, maybe good ones, added a few hundred to a thousand to your investment. Then one day you decide to trade, and want even money, or even 80-90 percent. The market for those custom add ons is very very narrow. May have to hold that a long time to find the right buyer.

The next biggest challenge, are the homemade, shop made, "custom" AR's... and there's two things that happen... someone buys in a rush in high tide... (Obama wins), then 4 years later expects to break even. Or, you built a good gun, on an Aero receiver, maybe used high end parts (although many are not marked), and then it's not bringing what your buddy in his garage said it was worth...

In general, offer a fair price and be fine. I will work hard to get your business, but I also work hard to tell the truth, even if it stings your or me...

Ah yes, the joys of the "custom" AR. I dont even make offers on them. there is approximately a 98% chance of butthurt on the "builders" end if I did lol

Right, this helps them turn over product so they don't have money tied up in inventory forever. Plus they can alway dump if for cost if it sits too long.

The one and only time I sold a used gun to a gun store is when I sold my rem 700 sps tactical for $200.

That same gunshop in Benbrook had 1lb bottles of 4350 for $75.00 a pound a while back.. never stepped foot in there again.

The standard offer by pawn shops and other resale places seems to be no more than 50% of the intended resale value. They want to earn back at least double what they paid for it. Seems like a very simple rule of thumb.

Some stores offer to do a consignment sale for a percentage. Usually 10 thru 20 percent. If you do not want to fool around with the sale yourself this can be another ave. Of course if you need the coin right now this won't help. This is better done with more utilitarian weapons than high end stuff. Every mouth breather and their cousins will be by to coon finger it.

Well maybe that is why the bear is there in the first place!
