Am I seeing it right that there's no early teal season this year?

Where you seeing it at, it's not showing up on my phone on the tpwd website Nowhere. Just an educated guess looking at the calendar.

I read something about a meeting that was scheduled for next week was pushed up to yesterday or today. Maybe they’ll have the dates out in the next couple weeks?

Why are they going to limit killing snow geese. There shouldn’t be a bag limit, like conservation season.

This is only gonna be a 2nd season duck hunting, so stupid question..
Do the limits, regulations, and dates change every year?

Do the limits, regulations, and dates change every year? Limits change based on bird counts and hatches. Usually they’ll change the limit for at least one species every year. Regulations haven’t changes since lead. Dates have been standard since split was cut down to one week.

That's usually how the state sets up their limits. Starting just after 12:40 on the video I posted he explains the reduced limit.

Just because humans are building up on old rice farms and taking up habitat, thus driving numbers down, doesn’t mean we shouldn’t be allowed to do our full part in helping with a species that is causing major issues up north.

Recent studies suggest that snow geese are not destroying the tundra they nest on as much as was feared they would. The numbers coming to Tx have leveled off around 250,000 on the coastal regions. There,s no need to keep the regular season limit at 20. We had a limit of 5 when we had 4 times as many geese here and everyone was happy. The main problem with reducing the snow population through hunting is that hardly anyone chases them in regular season where the largest numbers winter now in Arkansas, Louisiana and Kansas.
Life,s better in waders

Agreed Snogeese. It's been sad seeing the demise of the texas goose hunt on the coastal prairies. But you just have to adjust and chase them elsewhere.
