I haven't made a file knife in over 15 years but I was asked by Bron McDonald a new friend to make a knife from a file that used to belong to his grandfather, normally I decline from making file knives. Since my grandfather was like my own father how could I resist. I used a five in wheel for the hollow grind, we wanted to leave as much as the file intact and it was only an inch wide, this is what I came up with. Bron, sent me the beautiful burl wood I used on the handle. I think his grandfather would be proud.

Great job Bob. Those scales look like birds eye maple. I stabilized some with Cactus Juice with some green alumilite dye in it and they came out just like those.

Thank jeepman3366, I appreciate it.

Mike the scales some kind of Burl. I got the file and wood from my customer. I like to do double and triple dying using alumilite. I just ruin too much cactus juice that way. I go through enough of it as it is and you it's not cheap.

Thanks bro, his intentions are to give it to his son when he gets older so he can have something from his great grandfather. That makes the work well worth it.
