I just opened a Lapua blue box of .308 brass that I had on the shelf for a while, even the foam covering was in place and it was sealed, the brass are heavily discolorated with bluish / greyish hints on more than half of the case body / head. Some pieces are fine, but 80% of them are tarnished. I found 101 pieces instead of 100 pieces in the box with one wooden splinter longer / wider than a matchstick inside one of the cases.
For the amount of money, I would like that batch returned to Lapua and have them ship me a shipping label for its return in place of a new box of brass. Has anyone had any great customer service with Lapua?

Buddy had the same thing last year with some Lapua 7-08. Looked like they went wild with the annealing and cooked some of the brass clear down to the head stamp. He was able to return his (200 pcs) to Brownells, and get replacements.

Damnit, my last box of Lapua numbered 101 as well. If hate to think their QC is slipping.

I would just tumble them for a couple hours and go on. Going to get tarnished eventually, and if its just annealing it will get hardened back up as soon as you use it.

It looked just like your batch in the pictures. I was able to email the main headquarters and send them the issue with pictures and after I submited, there was a notice to contact a distributor in your country, so I did that, then called the number. Explained the situation and they said they will notify me by this afternoon. Just 15 mins ago, the man called and said they will give me a full replacement plus I can keep the brass as well. Talk about great customer service and he was very helpful. up They mentioned that the reason was its a old batch.

If the body and case head are truly annealed, that is not going to fix itself upon firing. A soft web is asking for trouble. I can look past tarnish, but not on brand new brass as expensive as Lapua. In either case, if you’re paying a premium for premium brass, it should look the part. Just my perspective.

I’ve never seen anyone not happy with Lapua’s service...there is a reason for that. Glad you got it taken care of to your satisfaction....I’m in the shoot’em camp and probably wouldn’t even have called. Cool that you did and they took care of ya though TD!

I'd shoot them too. If Lapua knew them to be dangerous, they would have asked for the brass to be sent back to them.

The inside necks and outside on those tarnished areas were rough, I won't waste bullets and my time for that.

Fair enough, but "poor shooting" and "dangerous" are two different things.
