I can pick up one of these in 3-9x40 for $119. Are they ok for a kids .243? Please don’t recommend a $500 scope. Looking for something quality for my kids first rifle. If not this I might go with a Leupold freedom.

I have the crossfire 3-12x56 "hog hunter". It is a good scope and has held up on my main breakbarrel springer, an RWS 34. I think that counts for something, springers are hell on scopes.

I own one and it has been a fine scope for the money.

I just really don’t like ballistic plex. I’ll probably end up with the leupold. Thanks

I’d go Freedom or Fullfield II. To my eyes the Crossfire II isn’t in the same league.
Don’t roll those bloodshot eyes at me.

The Crossfire II is fine during daylight hours not looking towards the sun, but in low light they are trash. I have 2 of them and at dawn and dusk you can not get the eye relief in focus, something happens to them just like looking at a fuzzy out of focus picture. Trust me, do not subject your child to the frustration of using these scopes, it could ruin their enjoyment that comes from hunting.

Thank you all. I ended up getting two 3-9x40 Freedoms for my kids’ two .243s and one Rifleman 4-12x40 for a rifle of mine
Scott, I really wish I had seen that scope first though.

I have a 2x7x40 and a 4x12x40, I think that is what they are, both have the same issue.
