My neighbor is working from home.

Now that it has warmed up, he hits the drive way about 2 PM or so with his lawn chair and dressed in just shorts. He has his cooler full of beer and sits out until about 4 PM working on his tan.

Wonder how many "work from home" could pass a no notice drug or alcohol test?

Better question is why there would be a test in the first place...so does it matter? smile

That is not tidal of my neighborhood. Seldom see anyone out. Here's a excerpt from a poem that is typical of the men and women in my neighborhood.

" Lives of great men all remind us
We can make our lives sublime,
And, departing, leave behind us
Footprints on the sands of time ;

Footprints, that perhaps another,
Sailing o'er life's solemn main,
A forlorn and shipwrecked brother,
Seeing, shall take heart again.

Let us, then, be up and doing,
With a heart for any fate ;
Still achieving, still pursuing,
Learn to labor and to wait."

Quail hunting is like walking into, and out of a beautiful painting all day long. Gene Hill

I have not.

I worked in a Chemical Plant and drinking was not a wise idea, safety concerns.

When I drink, I get sleepy.

My job makes me sleepy, so I cannot drink at work.

I do not get paid for doing my work, so I guess I could drink at work.

I've been working from home and teaching my kids since they returned from spring break. Have drank multiple times, but also went into the office Friday and ended the day with a shot of jager with my boss because it was the end of one of those weeks.

If I could finally meet my 2-month-old granddaughter, I wouldn't have a problem, but, now, I'm definitely working on one.

Working from home......until Friday, just got the call. Being laid off due to Covid travel restrictions and the price of oil. My project pushed back and the following suspended. Adios.

I’ve worked at home for a decade and I’ll do everything I can to not go back to an office full time, or even part time. I work much better at home in shorts and a t-shirt or social butterflies in an office with nothing to do but chit chat. It’s not for everyone, but I love it.

The same people who couldn’t pass a drug test because they’ve been working from home the last two months couldn’t pass a drug test when they were working in an office. Plenty of companies have drinks available for after hours or even have social hours for employees while at work (like a happy hour on Friday).

Not everyone works in a chemical plant. A lot of people have jobs where they can have a drink at the end of the day and still send one last email or finish a spreadsheet. A lot of companies are dying to build a looser, more fun atmosphere/culture at work, which includes maybe having a toast at the end of the week. Companies have been doing happy hours for a long time.

Plus, during all of this, a lot of companies are learning that, as long as employees get their crap done, there is no need to be worried about what employees are doing (which is how it should be). Could be that your neighbor has been able to get his stuff done by 2 everyday and isn’t allowed to hit the local watering hole, so he is drinking in the driveway.

I wouldn’t worry about it.
