I have to agree, why do folks have a need to kill everything?

We have some who come for supper every night.

They don’t like that they jack with their feeders. Texans don’t know how to hunt without a feeder, you know.

I thought raccoons were pretty cool too, before they started coming in the house to get the cat food.

Woke up to some noise one night and there was more than one, giant momma raccoon in my kitchen eating trash and others screwing with our catfood bin.

Cat door was the dumbest thing we ever did, and once it was there nothing could keep the raccoons out short of putting in a new door.

Family friend gave us his Great Pyrranese when he moved, raccoons all magically dissappeared!

As long as there just acouple, far from the house, still kinda cool to watch.

I don't shoot trap/kill em until they become a major pain in my azz.
I can show you a pictures of up to 9 at one time at my protein feeder. I'm not buying $14/bag protein to feed coons! I've also had problems with them catching catfish out of my tanks.
I've got a skeleton of about an 8 lb catfish right now on my tank damn from them.

I've gotten a lot softer hearted in my older age now but once they start to get out of hand then war is declared for a short while until they either find another food source or stay the hell out of my range cubes under my barn. lol

High fence, low fence, no fence, it really doesn't matter as long as you're hunting!

This is on the big ranch and we don't hunt or feed it and have 23 ponds, we just don't see allot of Raccoons.

Then I certainly wouldn't give em a bad time!

I can tell you why I kill them, They are some chicken killing machines, sneak into the hen house over the fence, climb up to the roost grab a chicken, ride her to the ground and kill her, then bec use the can't drag the chicken over the fence they pull the chicken to the edge of the pen. They then climb back over and try to drag the hen through the fencing. Typically they finally quit trying through the fence, eat the head and neck that they have pulled through the wire and then disappear...only to return 4, 5, 6, 7 nights later and do it all again...and the cute little masked bandits and possums too, are also a "host species" for rabies and for EPM...Equine Protozal Myeloencephalitus...and then horses worth thousands of dollars have to be treated...hopefully, or put down...because of raccoon spit or poop in or near the horse water...thus endeth the lesson.
