Finally figured out that I’m ready to quit. I looked at and have heard stories about some bad side effects. If you have used Chantix with good or bad results please chime in. Thanks

I used it and haven't had a cigarette in 6 years. I didn't have the crazy dreams but it did give me severe nausea that lasted about 20 or so minutes. It does work if you stick with it. I think within about 2 weeks I was not smoking at all.

just my 2 cents, I wouldn't do any Nicotine replacements if at all possible as this will only prolong you quitting (and many just go back to smoking/dipping). I, like you finally got to the point of wanting to quit back on 2/13 (dipping). I read an article saying that nicotine only stays in your blood for 3-4 days so I knew all I had to do was make it those 4 days. They were hard, I was an Ahole at work and home but once you get passed the physical addiction, it's an easy mental game to win.
you can do it!

I tied it, first week, crazy nightmare. No more Then tried Wellbutrin, about had a wreck going over a high mountain passed, all sudden got extreme anxiety about heights, so tossed that in trash. Then few years later had a second kid, quit cold turkey that day and never looks back.
When you are ready, you are ready.

I tried it. Made me feel very anxious and nervous. I stopped taking it and went cold turkey on the cigs. Was tough for about 7-10 days. I chewed the crap outta some gum. Good luck. You can do it.

My dad used it successfully but not without nightmares. He called me and asked me to get all his clothes out of the closet because he couldn’t go in there because he was afraid he would get stuck. That’s bizarre, he’s never been claustrophobic before. He told me that he had a nightmare where cave walls has collapsed on him. He knew the possible side effects, and knew that the nightmare was caused from the Chantix, but couldn’t convince himself to go in the closet.

My dad used it and it worked. Lady I worked with also did it and it worked. Only issue she had was what to do with her hands now that she wasn't holdings a cigarette. Also a close friend of mine used it and quit. I'm happy for all of them. Go for it

I’ll also say cold turkey is the way to go. I know that drug is supposed to have high success rates but the nightmares are pretty common. My buddy tried taking it and had some pretty sick dreams. He had to stop taking it because of that.

Chantix worked very good for me. Quit smoking with no issues. I also lost my damn mind and was totally unaware of it until my wife and children ask me to quit taking it. I quit taking it immediately. I had also not ran the full prescribed cycle. I was back to smoking in a few weeks and still do 10 years later.
Edit to add: I did not have any of the associated dreams, all of my issues were when I was awake.

No direct knowledge, but remember the story of the guy in Dallas that was trying to force the door at neighbors house while taking a stop smoking drug, and was shot and killed. Reports were that he was a good person, but his demeanor had changed significantly once he started the prescribed med. i think he was pretty well known in the DFW music circle.

Smoked heavily for more than 40 years, quit cold turkey eleven years ago and I never miss it at all. It's already been said several times, but I will add my voice to the chorus: You will finally quit when you are actually ready - and not a minute sooner, regardless of what you use to help.
Buckle down and Go For It. It is certainly worth it.

Wife and I used it. Had some funky dreams is all. Wouldn’t call nightmares. We just kinda laughed at it and called them Chantix dreams.
I think we took it one week before and one after our quit date.
The urge to smoke would hit me once in awhile but as time went by the thought went out of my head before it even got through my mind.
I was a carton a week smoker and it’s been almost 9 years.
Good luck! I wish you well!

If you ready your ready. Been 7 or 8 years for me at least. No desire whatsoever. And for what it’s worth not to offend anybody but eventually you realize not only is it ignorant and expensive, you also stink.
