I called one in while daytime yote calling about ten years ago in Bee county. It really freaked me out! Came running into the call and I had not clue what it was. I hopped up and ran it off. Apparently they like the cottontail duet played on an old Burnham Brothers Compucaller 2. Those are great pics you got there!

That might be an escaped pet. I have mucho experience with coatis. They generally don't invade inhabited areas and play with soccer balls unless they're familiar with that activity. Somebody is probably missing that little dude right now. I'll be happy to take him if y'all catch him.

I know some people that lived on acreage in the vicinity of this "country" subdivision. Although they referred to them as meerkats, they would occasionally see them from time to time. As hard as it is to believe, there may be a small population of them out there.
From what I understand, the one pictured is a juvenile. Hasn't developed strips on the tail yet.
