Was thinking of trying Northeast Tactical Rifle Range today and looked at the site to see how much cash to bring.
The website was confusing....for me....so I decided to call to confirm the cost.
$75 up front plus $60 for the day.
$135 to try a range I have never been able to step foot on is crazy!!!!!

I believe that is pretty crazy. The last time I spent $60 at the range, I had two son's and my eldest's wife.

Thats pretty crazy. One of the ranges I go to is $52.50 for a non-member day pass, and I thought that was expensive. That being said, that price also get you full access to a variety of ranges out to 2000 meters, and land isn't cheap, so I don't blame them

Dang, and I thought $120.00 for the year was high.

Still a lot cheaper than buying your own land and setting up your own range. If it was closer, I’d probably join.

Not counting hours to maintain it, fuel, paint, target repairs. They are lots of money, and lots of work. Having said that, I charge $40 per person. Not making money on that, but I make connections.

The Lubbock 600 yd range runs something like that, think it’s $60-100 for two hours, but they send a guy out to spot for you.

I've been curious as to what it cost to shoot at ranges with +600yd targets. If I understand it right, it looks like the RPR range near me in Burnet charges $30 up front for a safety course, $180 annual membership & then $10/hr. To try before you buy, they offer a one-time special of a weekend of shooting for $50. On the one time special, I'm not sure if you need the $30 safety class too(?) Does this seem like a good deal? Jason's range is a bargain! I've only shot there once outside of a match, but I keep meaning to go back. When work slows down this fall, I'll definitely be calling him again. I'll just have to make due with my fil's 200 yard range for now.

We're lucky to have Jason's range around. I wouldn't pay $135 per trip to go anywhere. I paid $200 to buy a "punch card" for 10 trips to a range that started up in Royse City about 10 years ago. They weren't staffed all the time, every time I went they had to call the owner to find out how many "punches" I had left since I never got an actual card (obviously I expected to when I bought it), and they closed for good a few months later. I went down and shot on my own a few times after that...I suppose they could have tried to get me for trespassing but I had paid to shoot there.
Charge whatever you want for a daily fee but I don't get the up-front charges. What does that cover? Why does your first visit cost the owner $75 more than your 2nd visit? Dumb IMHO

The gun range near my house charges $20 one time membership fee and $20 each visit. You have all-day access to pistol range, rifle range (50 and 100 yards) and shotgun range with spring loaded throwers.

You won't make money on a range running good paying customers off who come often.

I wouldn't pay $135 per trip to go anywhere. Exactly! I wouldn't either, but my cost from him was much higher than that to shoot there. I don't shoot there any longer and he ran Kyle's 22 LR matches off in a rude manner. There will be MANY people never shoot out there again. Good business, bad business decision, time will tell.

Chad, Jason didn’t run the .22 matches off in a “rude manor”. He was going to be starting construction on his house soon and didn’t want the workers to be concerned with so many shooters around. His land, his call...nothing rude about it.

These guys wanted me to pay over $5,000 plus $60 a month, plus range fees: https://rockwallgunclub.comStill scratching my head. No thank you Why did they want you to pay over their listed prices? That is a very good question. I never looked at their list prices until you asked. I popped in there on my daughter's birthday, figured I would sign up and pay for whatever I had to to get started. We really had just moved back to Texas and it was the closest range. Girl's name was Chelsea I think? She was sweet. But the price she quoted me seemed unreal. She did let us zero my daughter's .22 on the pistol range for $40, which was cool considering I made it plain and clear I had no intention of joining the gun club. They will give you a one-time trial of the range for a fee, after that you either sign up or never use it again. I can only assume thst either A. It is because I was trying to sign up my whole family includig 18 and 19 year old boys, or B. They changed the price. Looks like the sign up fee is cheaper but the monthly rate is higher, than I remember. It is a nice range if you have the money to spend on it. Awesme setups in there for clays, I think out to 600 for rifle, covered pistol ranges. It really was nice and seem like good people. But wayyyyyyy out of my price range.
