I've seen two of these for sale lately and they are the only two I've ever seen. I'm a Remington guy so I was wondering if some of you with more knowledge of these could share what they were all about. Are they scarce?

Thanks in advance for any info.

Apparently most of those are older, usually pre-64, which makes any Model 70 more valuable. Depending on the specific age and condition, if could be worth anywhere from $400-500 for a parts gun up to $2000 or more for a pristine example.

If it says 30govt06 on the barrel stamp, it was made in 1950 or before, so it's definitely a pre-64. grin

As to value, it would be more rare than a standard weight M70 stamped 30/06, but that's not saying much. It's value would be determined by is condition and modifications, or lack thereof (eg recoil pad, etc)

Does the 30GOVT06 stamp mean that it was issued to the military?
