They don't make that rifle in lefty, so it went down the road. I still have 2 300blk ARs though.

I'll probably end up going the 6.8 route. The Ham'r would be super easy if they made prefit barrels though.

If Aladdin would ever bring me my Hamr barrel we could have a reasonable discussion Jerm. I know plenty who have done research and it is the new cats meow per se.

Jerm,

You want the extra quiet of a bolt action.

You've got a bolt action, bolt face problem.

Build an AR, that is a side charging upper. Put an adjustable gas block on it, and turn it all the way off. Viola, AR becomes a bolt action.

Not sure what the humor necessarily is but I've been intrigued with this idea too because it allows one to play with wildcat and oddball calibers at a much lower rifle cost for the DIY type of dude. Me included.
So couple the idea with a gas block that can completely shut off then I think one has a winner.

There is a company called Mad Dog Weapon systems. I wanna shoot some of their ar wildcats but that's much further down the wish list right now for reloading.

I'm a dude who likes long barrels!

I’d work on ammo suppliers before a bolt action

When you can get it from the store shelf in variety then spin up the barrel and enjoy

I did this not long ago with a 224 Valkyrie. Still haven’t shot it because of COVID. The good thing about a side charger for a lefty is it’s on the correct side to charge efficiently.

On a more serious side of this thread, there is just something RIGHT about wandering the forest with a good bolt action rifle. But I guess it could just be the "old-man" in me.

If you want to add the AICS capability to your 308 family of cartridges Predator, the kit is the same $25ish price shipped

Build particulars?

Have to do any mag box or follower modifications?

Wilson Combat was listening, but keeping quiet themselves. Now a nice bolt action 300 HAM'R can be yours. Of course all you need to do is buy a Ruger American Ranch rifle chambered in .223 or 33 Blackout out and a WC conversion kit. Sounds like a good Sunday afternoon project. grin

After all, a true Southern Gentleman needs a nice bolt action to carry while he hunts the wood lots of his plantation. cheers

For what it is worth, mine is deadly accurate.

I had no mods to mag or bolt because it was already a Ruger Hawkeye compact in 6.8. It had a pencil barrel and I could not get the accuracy I wanted. I went with a McGowan 16.5" prefit in 6.8 SPC 2. I went 1:10 so I could shoot 130s. I had the McMillan stock on another rifle so I just moved it over. The can is a Q Trash Panda. I'm getting 2550 fps with 130 Interlocks. Magazine lets me load them out to 2.4" COL.

That's a nice setup S! My journey for a 300 HAMR bolt started about a year ago. I had no idea WC was thinking about bolt action barrels so I had a reamer built and sent it to Criterion for a barrel. My 6BR had a barrel nut system so I just switched barrels. It was worth the long wait. Now it's on to load development.
