I've had a 300 blackout pistol built with an 8.5 inch barrel for some time now and was wondering if you guys think that barrel length would be good enough to hunt hogs with. Anyone have some success stories?

I know shot placement is king just wondering if that barrel length is good enough/recommended.
Also any ammo recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

I don't know first hand.
I use a 300BLK with a 16" barrel, and I have a pistol with a 10.5" barrel that I'm considering using.

It should work at close range, I'd think.
Close range in this instance being defined at <75 yards.
But that's not based on any real-world data, just my personal opinion.

This advice is worth every penny you've paid for it, and it comes with a "Double Your Money Back" guarantee!

I use Hornady 110 grain SP bullets, others like the Barnes 110 grain copper bullets.
With a 'low-power' round shot placement will be very important. It won't be like a .308 where you can get an almost automatic pass-thru, with lots of hydrostatic damage to slow/knock down a big hog.

It'll will work fine. Take aim at the neck. Ive been killing piles of them with my Ballistic Advantage 9" and Fiocci 125g SST's, inside of a 100yds. Got one at 155yds this past wknd (lasered from my blind window).

Ive personally chrono'd these @ 1975ish FPS out of this barrel. That's not screaming by any means. I used to be a 300 Barack Obama hater, myself. But it just plain works.

I use an 8.5” 300 blackout and no problems killing hogs. I’ve been shooting Barnes Tac TX 110 grain ammo, but going to switch due to cost. I’ll try the 125 SSTs.
