Who's watching the last dance?

Has there ever been anyone like him?
I mean the will to win he has/had is unreal.

Was he really that good, or was he so good because he couldn't stand to lose?

Best basketball player I have seen in my 40+ years of watching hoops; Kobe, Magic, Bird, Dr. J, Lebron and Curry all great but Jordan the best for me. Clutch, clutch, clutch...

"Documentary" told though his eyes that had to be signed off by him.

Anything negative was glossed over or not mentioned.

Yes, he is the greatest basketball player but also fell into the perfect set of circumstances.

He's no doubt the best, and I think it was more bc of his mentality than anything else.
I've never seen another player in any other sport either that wanted it as bad as him.

I agree....closest I've seen as far as will to win was Kobe and Tiger, and maybe Michael Phelps. Too bad Tiger dealt with injuries, family issues, and fell into the trap of rebuilding his swing over and over.

He wasn't the best.

Let's be honest he dominated in a mediocre time in the NBA.

SA you may be right...I’m not a basketball fan. But what I saw of Jordan was over the top. Like was stated earlier....his determination and will to win was off the charts. That is rare in any sport. On flip side of that...the cat was a real prima dona seemed to me.

IMO, from what I watched Magic, and Bird were better then Jordan. They came into the NBA and made there teams instant championship contenders. It took Jordan 7 years and a mediocre NBA to win his first.

"Let's be honest he dominated in a mediocre time in the NBA." Not so sure about all of this. yes, he dominated. Not so sure it was a mediocre period of play.

Not only was he supremely determined, hard to to match athletically, calm in clutch, he understood when you took less salary so there could actually be worthwhile support around you. I am wishing Dak would go to MJ School.

He is the G.O.A.T. up

Never a better all around player than MJ. He dominated people on offense and defense, he made his teammates practice hard and play even harder.

Yup, best player in the NBA, period. Babe Ruth of my generation, I was blessed to watch him play.

I am enjoying it. While it doesn't always paint him in the best of light, he is no doubt the GOAT.

The NBA used to be my favorite sports league to watch from about 1980-2000, but now I can't stomach it. I will disagree with S.A. Hunter when he says it was a mediocre time in the NBA. Yes, Magic Johnson and Larry Bird were winding up their careers when Jordan was peaking, but there were other great players and teams that just couldn't do what Jordan was able to do with the Bulls, despite them having a lot of talent. Ex: Pistons, Rockets, Knicks, Jazz, Pacers, etc. They all had star power and great roll players, but just couldn't get over the hump. The Pistons won a couple championships and before the Bulls first 3-peat and the Rockets won a couple while Jordan was taking a baseball sabbatical, but the 97 and 98 Jazz teams may have been one of the best not to win a title.

You really should watch it if you haven’t. If you have, how can you say that?

They’ve addressed his gambling, his fighting during practice, his dad dying, retiring, issues with teammates, issues with opponents, and the list goes on and on. There has been a ton of negative stuff discussed in the show.

Agreed. It was a great time in the NBA.

If Jordan was the goat, why did it take him 7 years to win? He joined the league in 84, that was in the Lakers, Celtic hayday. If he was in fact the goat why wasn't he able to win? I think Jordan and the whole goat thing came from a lot of marketing, and the NBA push to make him the sole face of the league. Also the 90s was a mediocre time in the NBA. Did you see the teams ndn98 listed.......are any of them concerned great teams? Nope...

The 80s was the best basketball played.

As you mentioned, there were several dominant teams.
Lakers, Celtics, Pistons.

The Lakers alone. Kareem, Magic, Byron Scott, Worthy. Coach Pat Riley.
One Goat can’t take on that team.

Celtics - McHale, Bird, Parrish, DJ and what a supporting cast from there including an HOFer or two coming in off the bench.

Pistons - Isaiah, Lambeer, Salley, Rodman, Aguire, Dumars and a supporting cats that included Mahorn, the microwave and more. A team in the true sense of the word where their combined value together exceeded their individual vales separately.

Btw, hand checking was rampant back then and yes, it makes a big difference. If you think the beard is slippery these days, think about that. Also think about MJ playing in this day & time and no one being able to put a hand or forearm on him.
