One of the hogs I shot the other night was a big boar [ 200 + ] .He had an older bullet wound on his shoulder that had healed over , no exit . I dumped him in a low spot and will check the spot later with a detector to see if I can find the bullet , ifit does not end up as coyote poop .

Yeah, we're basically a pretty visually oriented group.
We like pictures!
So, come on back and regale us with tales of your hog hunts, but throw in some photos, too.

I do hike into the places that I hunt and do not bring a camera . If I can find the bullet later I will save it and get someone to photo it . Even without photos I thought that the fact that he took a solid hit to the shoulder and healed was interesting . He did not survive the 180 30/06 to the side of the head at 100 yards though .

He looked a lot like the hog in the photo in the post about double cutters , but a little bigger and more muscular . And he had a bullet hole in the side of his head .

You don't hunt with your cell phone? I can understand having it turned off when you hunt, but otherwise that is just normal safety gear, LOL.

I do not own a cell phone . Never had the need for one . Your decision of course. But a cell phone (where there is service) is a good safety device. You won't find me without one anytime I leave the house.

I do not know about a safety device . I have worked with all the cars wrecked in my county covered by insurance for over 25 years . Lately the number one cause of car wrecks is the cell phone . About every drive to go hunting I am almost hit or have to avoid someone on a cell phone .

Cell phones do not cause car wrecks any more than cars do. You are confusing cause, co-occurrence, and effect. The issue is distracted driving, a problem since driving started. Cell phones are just a newest and most widespread part of it. Stereo systems, electronics, GPS, eating, make up, arguing with the spouse, are all other types of distracted driving that have been associated with accidents, just the name a few.

Yeah, of course if you don't want a cell phone, don't get one, But, even my father-in-law got one when he was in his 90's because a neighbor had an accident with a tractor out in a field and was able to call for help thanks to his cell phone. My FIL decided it was a good insurance policy to have one as he worked on his ranch. I feel the same when I'm out hunting. Another friend also had an accident on a tractor which required a life flight helicopter. He's alive because he had a cell phone with him.
I have two unwritten rules: 1. 2.
