I'm going to make a blind or 2. I've been trying to find insulated panels. The panels I'm looking for are skinned w/sheet metal or aluminum & are 1" to 2" thick. They're some sort of foam sandwiched between 2 pieces of metal.
Anybody know where to find such a thing?

Be prepared to have some guests with you in the blind, primarily rats. They love to bed up in the foam, used that type of blind for 2 years in NW Missouri.

It’ll be on 10’+ stands. Shouldn’t be too bad.

Mines taller, steel framed on a steel tower, and mice become a major problem anytime I fail to keep fresh rat poison in it year round. I have to sweep up a pile of expanding foam bits before every season.

I cant see how insulated panels would do any good unless you have some sort of heater inside of the blind. I assume that is the case. And if you have the heater, the small cubic footage would heat without the insulated panels.

FYI, the name of what your looking for are SIPs, Structural Insulated Panels. Very expensive for what they are made of. For an insulated deer stand it would be much cheaper to sandwich your own with material from home depot.

The original metal blind’s with sandwich structure insulation are reject garage doors.

You can make your own with unrolled 26ga R/U panel (prime building supply-they roll their own), polyurethane foam appropriate adhesive and angle iron frame.

This is what Atascosa blinds are made out of I believe. We have one going on 2 years in an incredibly rat/mouse infested area. No signs of mice and really no idea where they would get in, its all metal.

The Atascosa blinds is what I’m trying to build like. I’ve hunted out of them and they are extremely nice. Those type panels are what I’m looking for.
I’ve hunted out of 7-8 blinds, for 5+ years, made this style and have never seen a mouse in any of them. The exterior is all metal so I don’t see how they’d get inside.

The panels I used for this blind build are cut outs from a door company, theres a link in the thread where I bought them from a guy on here but it wont open for some reason

If that is the kind of panels your going to use I wouldn't worry about rats/mice at all. Just don't leave exposed seams. If its elevated I still wouldn't worry. Our old wood and hardy plank blinds are mostly 10 foot off the ground and a rat could easily get into them they are not tight. The only rats that we find in them are half eaten ones the owls leave behind when a window gets left open etc.
