Great find

My Sister in law wasn’t amused, it’s now hanging in my garage.

Forgot about this one. The landowner of one of the places I’ve done a little guiding on found these two locked up. Talk about make you sick.

My most interesting find was when I found the skull of a buck I had shot 2 years prior with my bow that I never found. I shot this buck in 2015 and never recovered him. My brother ended up getting on the lease and eventually moved to the area next to mine and I was out walking in his area in a dry creek and came across a skull wedge in a bounder in the middle of the creek. I couldn't believe it when I got to it and realized it was my buck. I found another 8 pt in the same creek the same day about 50 yards away. Had my brother not gotten this area I would have never gotten him back. I had my taxi get a cape and did a shoulder mount for me.

No, not kidding. Looks like a female goat skull. Where are the antlers? It is a goat that died and the outer part of the horn came off. Just like when you get anything mounted that has a horn as opposed to an antler they have to be separated and cleaned out.

Found this buck while turkey hunting. He would have scored close to 150.

Found this wildebeest several years ago on the WRS Ranch. Just took it off the back fence a couple weeks ago, painted it, and added the arrow.

A few years ago, a guy and his boy on our lease were out hunting. The boy shot at his first buck, one of which i had seen in person prior. He was a good mature buck that was fairly heavy, tall, but not real wide. He was a great first buck for the kid. Anyways, the kid shot him in a light rain. He and his dad searched for him but couldnt find him. His dad went out the next few days to see if he could come up with the deer and nothing. Fast forward to the following spring, and I'm out driving around in the mule looking for a new area to set a blind up, and low and behold, I see some antlers sticking up out of the grass under a big oak. Sure enough, it was that boy's buck. I took a picture and sent it to his dad. They were out of town, so we arranged to meet up the following weekend and he wasn't going to tell his boy about it. Sure enough, we meet up and it didnt quite register to this 7 year old that it was his buck until we told him i had found his deer. His dad took it to a taxidermist, who did an amazing job.

I'll edit to add pics when i find them. Edit, found a couple.

I have basically same story but it was almost 30 years ago when I was 18, a kid on our lease in San Saba was hunting with his dad (my dads boss) and shot a buck they couldn't find, but the kicker to my story is, the kid was killed in a a car wreck in Mineola the next summer and I found the deer 100 yds from the feeder opening weekend the next year. My dad gave his dad the horns and immediately he started crying, it was definitely the buck.

Anywhere from 200- to a few thousand years was what I was told. Really need to carbon date it sometime.
