Not really a Death Adder but they do try and mimic an Adder as well as a Rattler.

Thanks for posting that up, it’s a great pic!

I like those little guys but they sure resemble the prairie rattlers we have up here. Will give you a heart attack until you get a second look.

That's the western variety. I've only caught one of those, back when I was about 14 or 15. I've caught dozens of easterns though. They're one of my favorite snakes. cheers

Back in my snake catching days ( 50s 60s 70s ) those were quite interesting.
The racers were ornery, Hognose would just stink you up.

Great pic as usual HWY.

One of my favorite snakes. Very docile, but some stinky musk!

Neat snakes for sure...they are “all bark no bite” so to speak and will play dead by rolling around on their backs. Big put on’s. I believe they are venomous, but very mild and not enough to harm a person. Thanks for posting!

Pretty sure they are not venomous in any way shape or form whatsoever.

Why don't you like toads? They eat a lot of insects we do not like.

They get in the Ibex watering troughs and screw up the water.

Years ago when I used to keep snakes, I had both a western as well as several eastern hognoses. Probably my favorite snake. Got the western eating pinkie mice but had to try to find toads (not hard) or tree frogs for the eastern variety. They are now considered mildly venomous as stated above but they are rear fanged and really will never bite unless you force your finger into their mouth like I did just to see what happened. Mild itching sensation , a little redness but that was it. I believe it was the western that I did that with but I was young and dumb in those days!
